A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE HIRING OF CONFLICT LEGAL COUNSEL FOR THE
CITY OF CANTON.
WHEREAS, the legal ordinance committee of the City of Canton has determined it is
necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to utilize a conflict of interest counsel for
certain ordinance violation prosecutions due to conflicts arising from Cutis S. Lane's provision of
legal services to certain individuals involving ordinance violations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has made a similar determination to
allow for conflicts to be prosecuted under the Municipal Code of the City of Canton by the conflict
counsel.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS.
1. The City of Canton has authorized to utilize Nathan Collins of Collins & Collins, P.C. as
conflict counsel to prosecute the ordinance violations pursuant to the Municipal Code of
the City of Canton at his hourly rate for same.
2. The City Council and the Mayor of the City of Canton have authorized to execute any
agreements that Mr. Collins may desire or the City of Canton may desire in the future to
effectuate this Resolution.
3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the City Council of
the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and approved by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, at a regular meeting this 5TH day of
June,2018, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Chris Jump,John Lovell, Craig West,Angela Hale, Tad Putrich, Angela
Lingenfelter,Justin Nelson
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Alderman Ryan Mayhew
