HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1613 v ..- . - ORDINANCE N0, 1613 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 15, SECTION 24 OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE (SIGN ORDINANCE) WHEREAS, a comprehensive sign ordinance was enacted by the City on September 15, 1998 and was in full force and effect as of that date; and, WHEREAS, it appears to the city council that the existing ordinance does not allow directional signs to be placed on the terraces of the city for real estate open houses and similar activities; and, WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has recommended a modification for directional signs for real estate open houses on the terraces of the city; and,. WHEREAS, Section B of said ordinance would be more clearer if it contained additional language. NOWS THEREFORE,.. BE IT ORDAINED BY THIS CITY COUNCII., OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows: 1. Section 24 is hereby amended as follows: The following material shall be substituted for Subsection B, 1: "B.. APPi.TCAR.I~.iTY. 1. It shall bye unlawful to build,, erect or maintain outdoor signs in the City of Canton except in conformity with this Ordinance. 2. The following material shall be added to Subsection K: 14. Terrace directional signs. Directional signs for a real estate open house or a like activity may be placed in the public terrace for no more than 48 hours once per month per property but must be placed so as not to interfere with the vision of motorists." 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois. ~r-- PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 5th day of Janauaru.199~ upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen.
