ORDINANCE AMENDING PROVISION 7-3-A-1 RELATIVE TO THE COLLECTION
AND DISPOSAL OF GARBAGE FOR THE CITY OF CANTON,ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Municipal Code and the City of Canton Code, the City of
Canton has the authority to regulate and determine the cost to collect and dispose of garbage
within its municipal boundaries;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has determined to increase the rates
for collection and disposal to allow the City to apporpiately engage in said conduct;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Canton,
Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
SECTION 1: "7-3-A-I: SERVICE CHARGE:
The Council of the City of Canton hereby establishes a service charge to finance the
establishment and maintenance of plants for the collection and disposal of garbage or solely for
the collection or disposal of garbage by a service charge of sixteen dollars ($16.00) per month to
be collected from persons receiving such service. This service charge shall cover the collection
of garbage as set forth in Section 7-3-4 of this Chapter. Stickers for bulk items that do not fit
within containers shall be ten dollars ($10.00)per sticker."
SECTION 2: That upon passage of this amendment, the City Clerk shall be instructed to submit
to the Codifiers of Municipal Ordinance the said Ordinance amendment for insertion in its proper
place and each copy of this Code within thirty (30) days of its final passage.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular
meeting this 3rd day of April, 2018 upon a roll call vote as follows:
