HomeMy WebLinkAbout#4105 City Treasurer's Bond of City Ordinance No. 4105 An Ordinance Amending Provision 1-11-1 Pertaining to City Treasurer's Bond of the City of Canton, Illinois WHEREAS, pursuant to the Illinois Municipal Code all municipal officers, including but not limited to the City Treasurer, are required to execute bonds as part of their faithful performance of their duties to the City of Canton (65 ILCS 5/4-4-2); and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton City Code provides for the Treasurer's Bond in Section 1-11-1 of said City of Canton City Code; WHEREAS, Section 1-11-1 of the City of Canton City Code requires amending to fully comply with the Illinois Municipal Code due to revisions to the Illinois Municipal Code that occurred after Section 1-11-1 was enacted (12-1-1992) by the City of Canton. THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY,ILLINOIS,AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: "1-11-1: OATH, BOND: The city treasurer, before entering upon the duties of office, shall take the oath prescribed for city officers and shall execute a bond to the city in an amount of dollars that is not less than the greater of $50,000 or 3 times the latest Federal census population or any subsequent census figure used for Motor Fuel Tax purposes, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of office and the payment of all money received by the officer, according to law and the municipal ordinances. The treasurer's bond shall be filed with, recorded and preserved by the municipal clerk." Section 2: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon the retirement of the upcoming retiring sergeant and shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and adoption. Further, the City Clerk shall be instructed to provide to the codifiers of our municipal ordinance this ordinance amendment for insertion and its proper place and each copy of this code within thirty (30) days of its final passage.
