AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 10, CHAPTER 7, SECTION 3(D) OF THE
CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF CANTON BY ADDING A
SPECIAL USE TO THE R-4, MULTIPLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City of Canton has adopted a comprehensive zoning ordinance
for the City; and,
WHEREAS, said ordinance contains, inter , special uses for each zoning
district; and,
WHEREAS, said ordinance does not provide for a special use by an art and music
school.
WHEREAS, it appears advisable to allow a special use by an art and music school
in the R-4 Multi Family Residential District; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City, after a public
hearing on July 13 1998, unanimously recommended adding as a special use in the R-4,
Multiple-Family Residental with the restriction that programs and recitals be incidental to
the instruction provided.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as .follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing recitals to be fact.
2. That Section 10-7-3(D) of the Canton Municipal Code is hereby amended by
adding a special use to R-4, Multiple-family Residential District the following:
"10-7-3 (D): Mortuaries and professional offices such as doctor, lawyer,
engineer, architect, dentist, or chiropractor, not including the office of a
veterinarian, when located on a street designated as a major thoroughfare;
art and music school with programs and recitals incidental to the
instruction provided."
3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by
the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approved by the
