AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE
CITY OF CANTON BY ADDING A PERMITTED USE TO THE B-2 GENERAL
COMMERCIAL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City of Canton has adopted a comprehensive zoning ordinance
for the City; and,
WHEREAS, said ordinance contains, inter , permitted uses for each zoning
district; and,
WHEREAS, said ordinance does not provide for a use by a bank or other
financial institution; and,
WHEREAS, it appears advisable to allow use by banks, credit unions and other
financial institutions including drive-ins in the B-2, General Commercial District; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City, after apublic
hearing on June 8, 1998, unanimously recommended adding banks, credit unions and other
financial institutions as permitted uses in the B-2, General Commercial District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T ORDAINED BY THE. C1TY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing recitals to be fact.
2. That Section 10-9-2 of the Canton Municipal Code is hereby amended by
adding to the permitted uses in the B-2, General Commercial District the following:
"(W) Banks, credit unions and other financial institutions, including
drive-in facilities, remote or attached."
3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by
the Mayor thereof.
