A RESOLUTION APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY OF
CANTON AND LAUTERBACH& AMEN LLP FOR SERVICES PROVIDED FOR THE TAX LEVY
ACTURIAL REPORTS FOR THE CITY OF CANTON FOR FISCAL YEARS ENDING APRIL 30 2017
THROUGH APRIL 30,2019.
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has determined that it is necessary and in the best interests of the
City of Canton to enter into an agreement as set forth in Exhibit`A" attached hereto and incorporated herein for
services in connection with the tax levy acturial report for the police and fire pension acturial valuation
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON,ILLINOIS,AS FOLLOWS:
I. That the letter of understanding attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit"A" is hereby approved
by the Canton City Council.
2. That the Mayor of the City of Canton, Illinois, or his designee, is hereby authorized and directed to execute
said Letter of Understanding on behalf of the City of Canton.
3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of
the City of Canton, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois at a regular meeting this 21 day of November 2017
upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Justin Nelson, Angeila Lingenfelter,Tad Putrich,Angela Hale,John Lovell, Chris Jump,
Ryan Mayhew
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Alderman Craig West

We are pleased to confirm our understanding of the services we are to provide for the City of Canton,
Illinois for the fiscal years ending April 30, 2017 through April 30, 2019. It is our understanding that
Lauterbach&Amen,LLP will prepare the Tax Levy Actuarial Reports for the City.
You agree to assume all management responsibilities for the actuarial services we provide; you will
oversee the services by designating an individual, preferably from senior management, with suitable
skill,knowledge,or experience;you will evaluate the adequacy and results of the services;and you will
accept responsibility for them.
Lauterbach and Amen, LLP does not assume any management responsibilities for the City.
These services cannot be relied upon to detect errors, irregularities, or illegal acts that may exist
However,we will inform you of any such matters that may come to our attention.
Fees for our services are as follows:

Total Actuarial Financial Statement Repotting S5,000 $5,000 $5,000
The above fees include attendance at up to three (3) meetings per year, as requested, to discuss
actuarial results. Any meeting attendance required over and above the three (3) included
meetings will be billed at the rate of$250 per meeting.
