ORDINANCE NO. 1561
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN PROPERTY OWNED
BY WILLIAM D. WALTERS, BEING THE NORTH SIDE OF THE
1300 BLOCK OF EAST WALNUT STREET, CANTON, ILLINOIS,
CHANGING THE ZONING CONFIGURATION FROM R-1 TO R-3.
WHEREAS, it appeazs to the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, that the
territory hereinafter described is not located in any municipality, but that the same is located outside the
corporate limits of said City of Canton; and
IT FURTHER APPEARING to said City Council that the territory hereinafter described
is contiguous to the City of Canton along its East and South boundary line thereof; and
IT FURTHER APPEARING to said City Council that a Petition for Annexation and
Rezoning has been filed by the Petitioner, William D. Walter, requesting that the property hereinafter
described be annexed to the City of Canton in a R-3 zoning configuration; and
IT FURTHER APPEARING to said City Council that a public hearing was conducted by
the Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Canton, Illinois, in accordance with the laws of this
State and the ordinances of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, on October 13, 1997 and said
Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously recommended that the property hereinafter described be
annexed to the City of Canton in an R-3 zoning configuration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the territory described as follows:
Apart of the East Half of the South Half of the Southwest Quarter of the
Southeast Quarter of Section 26, Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the
Fourth Principal Meridian, Fulton County, Illinois, described as follows and
bearings refer to the Illinois State Plane Coordinate System, West Zone:
Commencing at the Southwest comer of said East Half; thence along the South
line of said East Half bearing North 89 degrees 34 minutes 46 seconds East, a distance
of 242.67 feet to a point for the PLACE OF BEGINNING; thence bearing North 0
degrees 41 minutes 22 seconds East, a distance of 177.50 feet to an iron pin; thence
bearing South 89 degrees 34 minutes 46 seconds West, a distance of 121.50 feet to an
iron pin; thence bearing North 0 degrees 41 minutes 22 seconds East, a distance of
481.36 feet to an iron pin; thence bearing North 89 degrees 49 minutes 27 seconds East,
a distance of 536.62 feet to an iron pin at the Northeast corner of said East Half; thence
bearing South 0 degrees 35 minutes 53 seconds West, a distance of 656.55 feet to the
Southeast comer of said East Half; thence bearing South 89 degrees 34 minutes 46
seconds West, a distance of 416.21 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING, containing
7.614 acres. Subject to the rights, if any, of the public for roadway purposes along the
South side of the above-described tract.
Be and the same is hereby annexed to the City of Canton, County of Fulton, State of Illinois, in accordance
with the applicable rules, laws and regulations of the Illinois Municipal Code.
Section 2. That the above-described property shall be and the same is hereby
designated with an R-3 zoning configuration.
Section 3. That the City Zoning Administrator is hereby instructed and ordered to
make the necessary adjustments to the zoning map of the City of Canton, Illinois, to reflect the annexation
and rezoning hereunder.
Section 4. That the City Engineer of the City of Canton, Illinois, is instructed to
prepaze and appropriate plat reflecting the addition of the above-described property to the City of Canton
by virtue of the annexation herein and to make same a part of the permanent records of the City of Canton,
Illinois.
Section 5. That this Ordinance was passed and became in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by a majority vote of the aldermen holding office in the City of canton,
Fulton County, Illinois, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, this 4~' day
of November, 1997, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Hartford, Phillips, Sarff, Meade, Nidiffer,
May, Shores.
NAYS: None .

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Petition for Annexation and Rezoning has been filed by William
D. Walters to annex certain property from the County of Fulton to the City of Canton, said property being
described on Exhibit A, which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference.
Pursuant to Section 7-1-1 of the Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5/7-1-1), you are hereby given
notice of such annexation request.
Action will be taken by the City of Canton at a City Council Meeting to be held on November 4,
1997, at 6:30p.m., at the City Building, 210 East Chestnut Street, Canton Illinois 61520, at which time and
place you are encouraged to attend.
