A RESOLUTION APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE
CANTON UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT #66 AND THE CITY OF CANTON
REGARDING THE SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICER AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE AND DELIVER SAID LETTER ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CANTON
ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the City Conned of the City of Canton has determined that it is necessary
anJ m the best interest of tite Cit s of Canton to enter into a Letter of Understanding with the
Catton Union School District 466. as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated
herein.
Now THEREFORE, be Et resolved by the Mayor and City Council of the City of
Can un. Illinois as follows:
I. That the Letter of Understanding attached hereto and incorporated herein as
Exhibit "A" is hereby approved by the Canton City Council.
2. That the Mayor, or his designee. is hereby authorized and directed to execute and
deliver said Letter of Understanding on behalf of the City of Canton.
3. That this Reseiution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage
by the City Council ofthe City of Canton. Fulton County, Illinois and approval by
the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois. at a regular meeting
this 6th day of June 2017, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Ryan Mayhew, Chris Jump. John Lovell, Craig West, Angela Hale,
Tad Putrich, Angie Lingenfelter

LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING
This document formalizes the agreement between Canton Union School District#66(the District)and
the City of Canton(the City) regarding the terms and conditions of the utilization of the School Liaison
Officer(the Officer)by the District. By signing this agreement,both parties agree to be bound by the
following conditions for the period covering August 2017 through July 2018.
The Parties have previously entered into an agreement executed in 1999 regarding the Officer.
Pursuant to the terms of the agreement,the District is responsible for remitting 66.6%of the Officer's
salary and benefits, based on the current rate of a probationary police officer,to the City. The purpose
of this Letter of Understanding is to set forth the amount of the District's contribution toward the
Officer's salary and benefits. The parties intend that all other provisions of the agreement remain in full
force and effect.
As agreed between the District and the City,the District shall pay to the City the amount of Fifty-seven
thousand,seven hundred twelve dollars and twenty-two cents($57,712.22)as and for the contribution
toward the Officer's salary and benefits. One-half of the amount shall be due on or before October 1
and the balance on or before March 1 of each year this Letter of Understanding is in effect.

LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING
