Home My WebLink AboutResolution #3288' `~ RESOLUTION N0. 328$ A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A MA.TOR FOUR-LANE HIGHWAY BETWEEAT PEORIA AND CHICAGO AND BETWEEN MACOMH AND QUINCY WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the Canton City Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City of Canton to support a mayor four-lane highway between Peoria and Chicago and between Macomb and Quincy; and, WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination; and, WHEREAS, the economic development potential of Fulton County is limited because of the lack of a four-lane highway; and, WHEREAS, a four-lane highway is viewed as an essential resouce in attracting new business and industry; and, WHEREAS, mayor four-lane highway expansions are being planned between Peoria and Chicago and between Macomb and Quincy; and, WHEREAS, linking these proposed pro3ect8 with a four-lane highway through a "Fulton County Corridor" would benefit the entire area of the State. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows: 1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing recitals to be fact. 2. That the Canton City Council supports efforts to build a four-lane highway through Fulton County. .'',~' 3. That a copy of this Resolution be directed to the Governor of the State of Illinois, the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Transportation, and the members of the state and federal legislative delegations representing Fulton County. l,.. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, F~a.lton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, F~Zlton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 1st day of August, 1995, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen Molleck, Hartford, Sarff, Phillips, Bohler, Meade, Shores, May.
