AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF CERTAIN PERSONAL PROPERTY
OWNED BY THE CITY OF CANTON
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the corporate authorities of the City of Canton, it is no longer
necessary or useful to or for the best interests of the City of Canton to retain the following
described personal property now owned by it:
1994 Ford Light Duty Utility Squad; and
1995 Freightliner Medium Duty Rescue Squad
(hereinafter collectively referred to as `Sale Property"); and
WHEREAS, the 1995 Freightliner was previously donated to the City of Canton and was
damaged in the November 16,2016 explosion; and
WHEREAS, with the purchase of the newer, used squad, these vehicles are no longer needed by
the City of Canton; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
Section One: The foregoing recitals are incorporated herein as finding of the City Council of the
City of Canton.
Section Two: Pursuant to Section 11-76-4 of the Illinois Municipal Code, 65 ILCS 5/11-76-4,
the City Council finds that the Sale Property, now owned by the City of Canton is no longer
necessary or useful to the City of Canton and the best interest of the city of Canton will be served
by the sale of the vehicles.
Section Three: Pursuant to said Section 11-76-4, Fire Chief Tom Shubert is hereby authorized
and directed to offer for sale the Sale Property at an amount he deems to be in the best interest of
the City of Canton considering the age. value and condition of Sale Property.
Section Four: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and
approval in the manner provided by law.
Section Five: Funds from the sale of the Sale Property shall be placed in the Canton Fire
Department depreciation account (account number 001-00-11252).
