FINANCE ALDERMAN RYAN MAYHEW, CHAIRMAN DISCUSS, CONSIDER AND VOTE ON GOING OUT FOR BIDS FOR BROKER FOR LIABILITY INSURANCE Attorney Rabel explained that the City put a notice in to MICA to go out for bids for the liability insurance. Attorney Rabel has contacted some insurance representatives. The RFP would be lengthy and in depth and they have given some different options for the RFP process. One of the options was to hire a consultant to pay for the bid specs and pay for just that service. The other option would be to put an RFP for a broker. The broker would do something similar to what Rick Semonis or Tim Wyman does for the health insurance. They would go out to get bids from various providers. The RFP services they provide would be included in the fee. They would have a much larger understanding for the City's needs. Attorney Rabel said she would be more than happy to do it; however the RFP for insurance is not her background. Attorney Rabel said she has not reviewed specific insurance policies. Alderman Mayhew said he agrees that the City should get a broker to get some bids back. Attorney Rabel said the broker would earn a percentage of whatever the premium is. MOTION and second were made by Aldermen Mayhew/Lovell to get bids for a broker for the RFP process. Amended motion and second were made by Aldermen Mayhew/Lovell to look for a broker within a 75 mile radius. DISCUSS, CONSIDER AND VOTE ON REPAIRS TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT LADDER/TOWER The transmission went out on the fire department ladder/tower. A bid was received that was less than initially thought. The cost of$15,216.09 would come from the fire depreciation fund. Chief Subert explained that it was a failure from the transmission cooling system. It was discovered one morning when checks were being made. The sample of the discolored fluid determined that it was from antifreeze. The antifreeze was in the transmission. The transmission was put in approximately 11/2 years ago. Since the failure came from a separate component it will not be covered under the warranty on the transmission. The transmission will need to be replaced. MOTION and second were made by Aldermen to Mayhew/Putrich to take $15,216.09 out of the depreciation fund for the Interstate Power System from Davenport Iowa to have the truck fixed.
