AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 1 (ADMINISTRATION) CHAPTER 25 (BUDGET
DIRECTOR) SECTION 1 (OFFICE CREATED,APPOINTMENT, TERM AND
QUALIFICATIONS) OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, during the past year the City of Canton ("City") has experienced the loss of its
comptroller and treasurer; and
WHEREAS, the City determined it was in its best interest to hire an independent contractor to
perform the comptroller's duties; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is in its best interest to not require the Budget
Director to be a resident of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that it is necessary and in the
best interests of the citizens of Canton, Illinois to amend Title 1 (Administration) Chapter 25
(Budget Director) Section 1 (Office Created, Appointment, Term, and Qualifications) of the
Canton Municipal Code to not require the Budget Director to reside within the City of Canton;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
That Title 1, (Administration), Chapter 25 (Budget Director), Section 1 (Office Created,
Appointment, Term, and Qualifications) of the Canton Municipal Code be amended to as follows:
Section 1-25-1(c) is hereby deleted in its entirety.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting
this 1 st day of March, 2016 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Craig West, Tad Putrich,Jim Nelson, Ryan Mayhew,
Gerald Ellis,John Lovell, Angela Hale
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Alderman Justin Nelson
ABSTAIN: None

municipality passed and approved Ordinance No. 4025 , entitled:

which proved by its terms that it should be published in pamphlet form.
The pamphlet for Ordinance No. 4025 including the Ordinance and a cover
sheet thereof, was prepared, and a copy of such Ordinance was posted at City Hall,
2 North Main Street Canton IL, commencing on MARCH 1, 2016 , and continuing for
at least ten days thereafter. Copies of such Ordinance were also available for public
inspection upon request in the Office of the City Clerk.
