HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-17-1968 Council Meeting Minutes 106 Dec. 175 1968 Canton City Cb-oheil held a regular meeting on Dec. 17, 1968 in the City Council Chamber. Mayor 'Woods called the meeting to order at 5:30 P. M.- Present for roll call: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr., Svob, Jacobs, Sepich, Skinner, Long., Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbicl Danner, and George. Absent: 'Tone. City Attorney McPlunn excused because of death in family. Attorney Eugene Taylor filling that position for the Council meeting. Pledge of Allegiance was followed by Invocation by Alderman Danner. Motion by Alderman Kroell that the -minutes of the previous meeting be accepted and -placed on file was seconded by Alderman Yerbic. Voice vote carried. Standing Committee renorts. Motion by Alderman Jacobs that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign the lease with the Canton Motorcycle Club providing the clause "either party ease with a sixty day written notice". Alderman Svob seconds may terminate the I Goorr,c, Danner, Yerbic, Spencer, Kroell., this motion. Roll call vote. Aldermen : Hone. Ellis, Lon,-,, Skinner., Sepich, Jacobs, svc�b, Farr, Howard, and Rusnak. !a*," Traffic Committee Chairman, Alderman Ellis, reported that Mr. Homerg from the HoFqer Electric Co. stated that some traffic lights are not working properly and should have some -,oreventive maintenance. i,iotion by Alderman Jacobs, seconded by Alderman Farr.,-that the City Council instruct the Traffic Committee to take whatever steps are necessary for maintenance of these lights. Carried, voice vote. Alderman Farr reported that the Chief of Police Lindzey had a warning in the Canton Daily Ledger pertaining to lights on bicycles after dark. Police car rental - notion by Alderman Farr, seconded by Alderman Svob that the Mayor and City Clerk enter into a contract 0 with Gene Wrestler Chevrolet for rent of two police cars. Roll call vote. AYE: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Se Svob, Jacobs., Sepich,- Skinner, Long, Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbic, Danner$, * and George. KAY: None. Mayor Woods introduced the subject of Uh closing the City Buildi-ng Offices the L) day before Christmas at lliOO A. M. Alderman Sepich moves that the offices close at il..(,',O A. M. on Dec. 24, 1968, Alderman Yerbic seconds same. Roll call vote. AYE: Aldermen George, Danner3 Yerbic, Kroell., Ellis, Long, Skinner, Sepich, Jacobs, Svob Farr,t) Howard, and 11-asnall. Sale, Director of Calton Civil Defense., stating that application had been made for matching dministratiV8 :C-Luids for "Personnel and A Expenses" from the Federal Government. Letter to be filed. On behalf of the City Council-, the Mayor thanked -the Engineer for all the courtesies extended to the City Of Canton. J New business. ResolutLor, regarding the Primary and General Election to be held on February 25 and April 15, 1969, respectively, designating voting places and judges in each ward.-_ Motion by Alderman Long., seconded by Alderman Sl ini-_er -to adopt this Resolution with the addition of the judges to be presented -to the City Clerk. Motion by Alderman Ellis, seconded by Alderman 1"arr to insert the "minimum fee for violation $25-0011 in Section 7 of the Ordinance. Roll call vote. Resolution -to vacate the Canton Country Club -,plat intended for use as in- dividual building sites. Alderman Jacobs moves to adopt this Resolution with the understanding that an easement for roadway along the C. B. & Q RR be granted. Alderman SepIlich seconds this notion. Roll call vote.
