Mayor 'Foods called the meeting to.order at 5:30 P. I1. Present for roll call: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Svob, Jacobs, Sepich, Long, Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbic, Danner, and George. Absent: Alderman Sk-.nner. Pledge of Allegiance was followed but Tnvocati on by Alderman Danner. Alderman Kroell moves, Alderman Yerbic seconds motion to dispense with reading of the minutes of the previous meeting, accent same and place on file. Carried. T?Il ..s for May, 1968 were presented. Alderman Lon^, moves, Alderman Yerbic, seconds motion that all claims properly annroved for payment be allowed when funds are available. Roll- call vote. AYE: Aldermen Ceor^-e, Danner, Yerbic, Spencer, Kroell., Ellis, Lunn, Sepich, Jacobs, Svob, Farr, Hoz-rard, and Rusnak. HAY: `lone. Officers reports for :Tay were read. Motion by Alderman Jacobs, seconded by Alder- man Kroell that same be accepted and placed on file. Carried by voice vote. Standing; committees. Alderman Long moves, Alderman Howard seconds motion that the Wiegand-& Stbrrer IAd for sewer work on r. Oak, E. Locust and E. Ash Streets be accepted. Roll call vote. Boyd Pickett as Co-chairman on the Cit .tens lldvisor�r Committee and re-)orted that Delbert Brush was omitted from the list of appoint- ments of Auxiliary Police. Alderman Long moves, Alderman Spencer seconds motion to confirm these appointments. Garried, voice vote. Mayor ''roods requested the Police and Legal cor.inittee to make investigation as to the legality of taxi cabs deliverin^; liquor from the local taverns, and report to the next Council meeting. Run,ler, Public Comfort Station Attendarnt thanked the Council for the fine work in renairing the ceiling- in the public rest room. Letter to be filed. V.F.W.Auxiliary note of thanks for permission to hold Buddy Poppy Day recently. Request for ice tread social, Federation of Bus-i_ness and Professional Women's Club to be-held on July 12 (rain date Ji0y 19). Alderman Howard moves, Alderman Ellis seconds motion to grant permission for this request. Carried by voice vote. Request of the Russian clubs of Canton Junior and Senior High Schools to hold an ice cream social on June 26, 1968. Alderman 2usnak moves, Alderman Farr seconds motion to grant this request. Voice vote. Carried. iiequest from Canton 'Friendship Festival Association to hold a "Friendship Tag Day" on Auslzst 23 and 24, 1968 to raise funds to sponsor the Canton, Missouri high school band, school officials, civic leaders, and city of ficia_l_s ex-penses to participate i_n the Canton Friendship_ Festival- activities. Alderman Howard moves, Alderman Sepich seconds motion that this request be ^ran.ted. Carried b-r voice vote. Announcement of Mu.n_-i.cipal Association of the Central Region meeting to be held June 12, 196b, 7:30 P. I., in the Towne House, I?avana. Mr. W.M. W. Kumpf, City Clerk, Peoria, sneaker for the evening;. All members of the Council urged to attend. Annroval of construction of sanitary sewer from Anderson Place and ninth Avenue to Oak Street by the Sanitary Water Board read. To be filed. Letter from an interested citizen regarding the passage of a workable dog ordinance. To be filed. Mayor Woods announced that a sympathy message had been sent to the family of iiayor Bruno who passed away on June 1, 196 '. 71 01d business. June 4, 1968, Cont. (2) Regarding the minin^ area near Canton, Alderman Danner announced that the City Attorney had written a letter to the mine Attorney, Chester Claudon, wwho, in turn had forwarded the letter to the Chicago office but no rnnly has been received.. Alderman Danner inquired what procedure would have to be taken to have an Ordinance regulating zoning the one and one-half mile area around Canton. City Attorney T`?c!Tunn stated that most of the land in the area has been purchased for a definite purpose. New business. Alderman Jacobs moves, Alderman Parr seconds motion that the City Attorney be instriicted to file a complaint with the Illinois Commerce Commission requesting; repair of railroad crossings of both railroads in the City.
