Mayor Woods called the meeting to order at 4:00 P. M. Present for roll call: Aldermen Rusnak, Hoard, Farr, Svob, Jacobs, Sepich, Skinner, Lon{-, Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbic, Danner, and George. Absent: None. Pledge of Allegiance was followed by Invocation by Alderman Danner. Purpose of the meeting announced: 1. Bids on oiling and chipping. 2. Ordinance on insurance. 3. Truck bid. 4. North Main Street Sewer. Mayor Woods introduced Mr. Chester Claudon, Attorney for the Truax-TraXer Mines and Mr. Gene Long, Supt. of the mine. Mr. Claudon reviewed the present plans being worked out by Scruggs and Hammond san dthes rua -Traer Coal of. for park, residential_, business, public golf , an Canton -- roads making same accessable to be build by the coal company. Further progress to be reported at a later ed that•there would be no reported oeffect from the geologist from Western Illinois st 1 for the City of Canton. the mine, west of big creek on the water supply Mayor Woods announced the meeting of the Board of Local Improvements, Thursday, April 11, 1968, 3:30 P. M- oil and chips. Alderman Spencer moves, Alderman Farr seconds motion that tie Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to enter into a contract with the9Pschirrer Coal and Asphalt Co. for oiling and chipping -- $17,855-00, Sugge by Alderman Jacobs that no work be done on the alleys unless all could be oiled. Roll call vote on the motion. AYE: Aldermen George, Danner, Yerbic, Spencer, Kroell, Ellis, Long, Skinner, Sepich, Jacobs, Svob, Farr, Howard, and Rusnak. NAY: None. Carried. Alderman Ordinance pertaining to salary increase, insurance, and sick leave. Roll call Howard moves, Alderman Spencer seconds motion to suspend the rules. vote. AYE: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Svoo, Jacobs, Sepich, Skinner, Long, Danner Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbic, Danner, and George. NAY: None. Alderman Roll :moves, Alderman Rusnak seconds motion to place the Ordinance on its passage. call vote. AYE: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Svob, Jacobs, Sepich,SK3nner2 Long, Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbic, Danner, and George. NAY: None. This being Ordinance No. 245. Truck bids. Alderman Long reported that one bid had been received for the one- ton truck, H. E. Miller Autobody, $3,062.00. Alderman Long moves that the bid be rejected and returned with a letter of thanks for submitting same. Alderman Yerbic seconds this motion. Roll call vote. AYE: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Svob, Jacobs, Sepich, Skinner, Long, Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbic, Dan- ner, and George. NAY: None. Alderman Long moves, Alderman Ellis seconds motion that the Council authorize that the Water and Sewer C=nittee be empowered to pur- chase the Richard Huff truck for $1300.00. Roll call vote. AYE: Aldermen George, Danner, Yerbic, Spencer, Kroell, Ellis, Long; Skinner, Sepich, Jacobs, Svob, Farr, Howard, and Rusnak. NAY: None. Carried. North Main Sewer Extension. Alderman Long moves, Alderman Farr seconds motion that the Mayor and City Clerk enter into a contract with Wiegand and Storrer for the sewer work on North Main Street, proposal for cost of this Svob Jacobs, H $20,420.40. Roll call vote. AYE. Aldermen Rusnak, , , Sepich, Skinner, Long, Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbic, Danner, and George. NAY: None. Carried. Safety Council dinner tickets were presented to the Aldermen by Alderman Farr. Mayor woods announced that the Department of Housing and Urban Development plans would soon allow for advertising for bids on the West Walnut Street project. Alderman Rusnak inquired about the Anthony Potesanos 'easement for North Fourth Avenue street opening -- Mayor Woods informed bim that he had written a letter.
