Jan. 2, 1968 Chamber, Mayor Woods called the meeting to order at,51968 in the City Council :30 P. M. Present for roll calls Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Svob, Jacobs, Sepich, Skinner, Long, Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbic, and Danner. Absent: Aldermen George. City Attorney L.B.McMunn absent. Pledge of Allegiance was followed by Prayer by Alderman Danner. Alderman Long moves, Alderman Kroell seconds motion that the minutes of the previous meeting be accepted and placed on file. Carried by voice vote. December bills presented. Alderman Kroell moves, Alderman Spencer seconds motion that all bills approved by Dept. heads and committees be allowed for payment. Roll call vote. AYE: Aldermen Danner, Yerbic, Spencer, Kroell, Ellis, Long, Skinner, Sepich, Jacobs, Svob, Farr, Howard, and Rusnak. NAY: Nonel Carried. Reports of all officers read. Alderman Skinner moves, Alderman Jacobs seconds motion that same be accepted and placed on file. Carried by voice vote. Standing commiftee reports. Peoria Scale Co. repairing city scales, reported by Alderman Long. Parking stalls still available on N. Main St. lot, reported by Alderman Ellis. Special committee reports. vt Mayor Woods reported on the street program, two projects have started and two more are in the preparation stage, and will be discussed as soon as finances can be iworked out. (also waiting for a petition for E. Ash St. project). Alderman Jacobs suggested that a petition should be presented to the Board of Local Improvements before preparations for a street are worked out. The Street and Alley Committee to check into the matter and report to next meeting. A hearing to be held early in 1968 re. Main-Locust paving. Communications to Council. West Vine St. Resolution (46CS) approved by Div. of IIighways. Letter to be filed. Maintenance Contract with Macomb Communications for tr].e city communications service recently installed -- $70.00 per month for maintenance. Alderman Skinner moves, Alderman Yerbic seconds motion that the Mayor and City Clerk enter into a contract with the Macomb Communications for this service. Roll call vote, AYE: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Svob, Jacobs, Sepich, Skinner, Long, Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbic, and Danner. NAY: None. Carried. _;;k'137 Old business. Second reading of Amendment to trailer Ordinance next on agenda. Alderman Howard moves, Alderman Long seconds motion that same be read by title only. Carried by voi ce vote. Title read. Alderman Long moves, Alderman Ellis seconds motion to place the Ordinance on its passage. Roll-call vote. AYE: Aldermen Danner, Yerbic, Spencer, Kroell, Ellis, Long, Skinner, Sepich, Jacobs, Svob, Farr, Howard, and Rusnak. NAY: None. Ord. No, 238. Dedication for Oak Street Extension laid over until next meeting. Agreement, Toledo, Peoria & Western Railway laid over until next meeting. Bond with the Transamerica Insurance Co., $1,@00.00, approved by Finance Committee for Rodney Hamilton, Auxiliary Policeman presented. Alderman Ellis moves, Alderman Skinner seconds motion to accept same and place on file. Carried by voice vote. New busines. First reading, Ordinance to vacate alley in Old Town addition. To lay over. Mayor Woods reported that Park District had purchased the R.E.Flowers property- on Mulberry P1., and Star Delivery had purchased property at southern edge of Canton. Alderman Ellis moves that City pay x;5.00 for elected officials and Dept. heads for telephone service. Alderman Howard seconds this motion. Roll call vote. AYE: Alder- men Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Jacobs, Skinner, Long, Ellis, Kroell, and Yerbic. NAY: Alder- men Svob, Sepich, Spencer, and Danner. (9 AYES and 4 NAYS). Carried.
