HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-29-1966 Council Meeting Minutes 447 Nov. 293 1966 Canton City Council held a special meeting called by Aldermen Long, Farr, and Spencer on Nov. 29, 1966 in the City Council Chamber. Mayor Woods called the meeting to order at 7:00 P. M. Present for roll calls Aldermen Howard, Rusnak� Svob, Farr, Jacobs, Long, Kroell, Ellis, Yerbic, Spencer, George, and Danner. Absent: Aldermen Whitehead and Skinner. Purpose of the meeting: Opening of bids for construction work -- Clarifier, Canton Water Plant and receiving the first estimate on work on the Graham Hospital sewer project -- Wiegand & Storrer, Inc. Pledge of Allegiance was followed by Prayer by Alderman Danner. Alderman Long moves that the bids be opened by the City Clerk, Alderman Farr . seconds this motion. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. One bid received -- from Caldwell Engineering Co., Jacksonville, Xllinois, opened: $93,300.00 with Alternate:(repair- of existing accelator concrete is deleted from-the contract, deduct the sum of $2000003 Aldernate: (rehabili- tation of existing accelator mechanism is deleted from the contract, deduct the Bum of $�,200.00). Alderman Long moves, Alderman Kroell seconds motion to refer the bid to the Water & Sewer Committee and report to the next Council meeting. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. First and only estimate of work on Graham Hospital sewer project -- recommenda- tion of consulting"engineers, Crawford, Murphy & Tilly that 90% of the completed work cost ($35,012.38) (to be regained until work completed and affidavits indicating"that all bills in "connection with this project have been paid, $32893.6o). Alderman Long moves, Alderman Danner seconds motion"that this es- timate be allowed for payment. Roll call vote. AYE: Unanimous, Mr. Ritchey, from the Crawford, Murphy & Tilly Engineering Firm, stated that since the bid on the clarifieli was higher than the engineer's estimate, it might be well to wait until later and advertise again. He was invited to meet with the Water & Sewer Committee immediately following the Council meeting. Alderman Long moves, Alderman Yerbic seconds motion to adjourn. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous.
