Jan. 2, 1963
Canton City Council held a regular meeting on Jan. 2, 19$3 in the City
Council Chamber. Mayor Cook called the meeting to order at 7:00 P. M.
Roll call. Present: Aldermen Howard, Sebree, Staley, Hurst, Skinner,
Gibbons, Abbott, Berry, Horton, George, and Bender. Alderman Wright arriving
at 7:15 P. M. Absent: Aldermen Herbener and Long.
Pledge of Allegiance was followed by Prayer by Alderman Howard.
Alderman Howard moves and Alderman Staley seconds a motion to accept the
minutes of the previous meeting and place same on file. Voice vote. AYE:
Unan i.mous.
Petition with signatures of fifty-nine property owners requesting sanitary
sewerage lines on Quality Hill read. Alderman Hurst moves that this Petition
be accented and placed on file and stated that it represents the majority of
the property owners. This motion was seconded by Alderman Berry. Voice vote.
AYE: Unanimous.
Bills for the month of December were read. Alderman Bender moves and Alderman
George seconds a motion to allow payment of all bills that are oroperly
approved. Roll call vote. AYE: Unanimous.
Alderman Staley excused at 7:14 P. M.
Alderman Howard moves that the Council instruct the clerk to read the
Resolution (last item of business on the Agenda) and then adjourn the
meeting to January 8, 19633 7:00 P. M. Alderman Berry seconded this motion.
Discussion. Roll call vote. AYE: Aldermen Howard, Sebree, Hurst, Wright,
Berry, Horton, and Bender. NAY; Aldermen Hurst, Gibbons, Abbott, and George.
(6 AYES and 4 NAYS) . Motion carried.
Alderman Wright arriving for the meeting at 7:15 P. M.
Reading of Resolution interrupted by Alderman Hurst regarding the selection
of election judges (Resolution's list of judges was incomplbte) . Alderman
Howard moves and Alderman Hurst seconds a motion to lay this incomplete Reso-
lution over until the next meeting. Roll call vote. AYE: Unanimous.
At 7:26 P. M. the Canton City Council adjourned this meeting until January 8,
19633 7:00 P. M.
