A special meeting of the City Council was held this ddy, conveziing at the hour of 5:OOP.M. with May ono Woods presiding. 'loll call showed the following present: Alderman Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Tink, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and hill. Absent:' Alderman Duncan, Sebree, Lundry and Coleman. The call for this special meeting was read as follows: To: City Clerk of Canton, Illinois: You will please issue a Notice for a Special Meeting of the City Council of said City,, to be held at 5:00 P.M. on the 11th day of January, A. J. 1956, in the Council Chambers of the City Building of Canton, Illinois, for the purpose of considering bids on riser pipe, and other necessary business. Signed: W. Paul Woods, Mayor. r It was moved by Al erman Smith, seconded by Alderman Cook, bids received on riser pipe for water tower be opened and read, and the motion carried. The following bids were submitted and read as follows: Nooter Corp. of St. Louis- - - - - - - - - 48"Riser- - - - - -$6,955.00 Chicago .Bridge & Iron- - - -10" cast iron riser- - - - - - - - -$4,715.00 or - -10" cast iron riser,replace with 4' steel riser- - - - - - - - - - -$7,100.00 plus- - -N,-�w Oft. diameter riser support- -11000.00 It was moved by k1derman Staley, seconded by Alderman 'Cook, to adjourn this meeting to Thursday, Jan. 12, 1956, at 5:00 P. M., and the motion carried. rk Canton, Illinois Jan. 12, 1956. An adjourned meeting of the Special meeting of the City Council of Jan. 11, 1956, was called to order by Mayor W. Paul roods, at 5:00 P. M. in the City Council Chambers. Alderman Coleman, Duncan, and Sebree come in. Bid of J. D. Mahoney was submitted on 10" cast iron riser, and new expansion valve in the sum of : 3650, with mainte ranee guaranteed for three years, and credit allowed for scrap metal of $35.00 per ton. After considerable discussion it was moved by Alderman Cook, seconded by Alderman Smith, the contract for this work be awarded to J. J. Kahoney Co., and the klayor and City Clerk be authorised to enter t1to contract with J. D. Mahoney Co. Noll call vote: AYE: Alderman Duncan, Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink, Coleman, 'turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. NAY. none. the chair declared the motion carried.
