HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-06-1955 Council Meeting Minutes Canton, Illinois Dec. 61 1955 A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour of 7:00 P. M. with Mayor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the following present: Alderman Duncan, Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. Absent: None. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood approved as read. Alderman Smith is excused. Communication from Canton Park District, including deed, dedicating to the City, Lot 58, Ma.plehurst Homes, as a public street, was on motion of Alderman Landry, seconded by Alderman Sebree, accepted. Resignation of Wm. Oalmgren from the Police & Fire Commissioner Board, was on motion of Alderman Duncan, seconded by Alderman j"filler, accepted. Ordinance "Annexing 50ft. of Longwood rive in Plaza Park Addition" was read the first time. It was moved by Alderman Lundrys seconded uy Alderman Coos to suspend the rules. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Duncan, Sebr-�e W undry Miller, Skinner, Tink, Coleman Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and nill..�NA Y:cNone. It was then moved by Alderman Landry, seconded by Alderman Cook, to place the Ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Duncan, Sebree, Lund=-y� Swick, Miller, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. NAY : none. The chair declared the motion carried and Ordinance gassed, being Ordinance No. 257. It was moved by Alderman. Staley, seconded by Alderman Duncan, the Police Dept. be paid one week extra pay for extra time put in by them, and the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. It w_s moved by Alderman Jennings, seconded by Alderman Cook, the Council accept the recommendation of the Water & Sewar Committee, and extend water mains on East Linn St. at a cost of approx. $3500.00, to be paid back by water users, and the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. After considerable discussion regarding necessary repairs to the water tank, it was moved by Alderman Sebree, seconded by Alderman Turner, that the collar be rep,ired at the present time at a cost of $40.00, and the needed repairs and report back at the nexttmeet g.t The motion carried study bv a on unanimous roll call vote. Agreement for Engineering Services in connection with improvements at the waterworks and sewage plant, was submitted by Crawford, Murphy & Tilly. It was moved by Alderman undry, seconded by Alderman Staley, the ayor and City Clerk be authorized ! to enter into contract and a reement with Crawford, "urpby & Tilley covering this survey. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman runcan, Sebree, Lund T ink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill.
