M. with "kV or Woods presiding, Roll call showed the following present: Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, 'turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. Absent: Alderman Duncan and Tink. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood approved as read. Comm; St. Supt; Water Treatment P1ant;Sewage Tre tment Plant; Water & Sewer Dept; and Plumbing Inspector. On motion of Alderman Smith, reports were accepted and ordered placed on file, and seconded by Alderman Coleman; Ordinance "Yield Right-of-Way signs at Birch and 2nd Ave. and stop signs at Oak and 6th Ave." was read the second time. Itmas moved by Alderman 04iller seconded by Alderman Staley to place the ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swift, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Tuarner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. NAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried, and ordinance passed,being urdina.nce No.245 Ordinance "Hydrant Rental outside City" was read the first time. i 5f on motion of alderman Jennings, seconded by '+lderman Omith, the Sew(V & Water Com, Engineer, Mayor and City Attorney were instructed to investigate complaints on water drainige after rains. Itmas moved by Alderman Miller, seconded by Alderman Jennings, to grant to the Musical Festival, priviledge to use Jones Park on Aug. 9th, and the motion carried. i It was moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Staley, the Moose be granted priviledge to hold a Bicycle Safety Contest on Aug. 13th in S. r'ark, and the motion carried by a viva voce vote. It was moved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Smith, the present Ordinance) establishing members of Fire department, be amended, placing one more man on the fire department after 93pt. lat. and the motion carried by a viva voce vote. Alderman Smith moves, seconded by Alderman Staley, the Police Commission be requested to make the present vacation policepatrolman a permanent police, and the motion carried by unanimous roll can vote. It was moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman "ill, to advertise for bi7s on waterproofing the City Building, bids to be received and opened on Aug. 16th. It was moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Jennings, the Water & ;„. Sewer Committee proceed with plans to service new a dditiona with water & sewer and the motion carried by a viva voce vote. It was moved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Jennings, to request the j States Attorney to subpeone Mr. Jaeger before the Grand Jury, to be questioned re- garding his committments on kick-hacks, and the motion carried by the following vote: AYE: Alderman Landry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. NAY : Alderman Sebree. It was moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Staley, and Ordinance be drafted setting the minimum fine of $25.00 onWheel Tax Sticker violations, and the motion carried by a viva voce vote. The Finance' mmittee were instructed to investigate the possibility of a City Sales Tax and report back at the next meeting.
