M. with Mayor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the following present: Alderman Sebree, Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smitl:, Linder, Skinner, Cook and Klobuchar. Absent: Alderman Duncan, Coleman and Staley. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood appr )ved as read. It was moved by Alderman Linder, seconded by Alderman Sebree, that Lugene Waddell be sent to the University of ill. for a three day course being Conducted, j and the motion carried by a viva voce vote. Request of Lyle St. Clair for two-weeks vacation pay, was on motion of Alderman St. Clair, seconded by Alderman Cook, granted by a viva voce vote. Alderman Staley comes in. Report from the Secretary, Howard Griffin, of the Fire and iolice Commission, regarding charges against Robert Harding, Raymond 13all and Chester Phillips, police r� patrolman, was read. Resignation of Howard H. �Iriffin, from the Police and r'ire Commission, was submitted. It was moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Cook, to accept the resignation, and the motion carried by unanimous xmii viva voce vote. Resolution Adopting Long nange plan for years 1955 to 1959, was on motion of Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman Smith, adopted by unanimous roll call vote. Ordinance "Leasing land adjacent to Canton Lake" was read the first time. It was moved by Alderman Cook, seconded by Alderman Staley, to suspend the rules, re- quiring the Ordinance be read the s >cond time. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Cook, Jtaley, Klobuchar. NAY: None. It was moved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Uook, to place the ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman 6ebree, Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Cook, Maley and Klobuchar. NAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried and Ordinance passed, being Ordinance No. 2 3 0, It was moved by Alderman Linder, seconded by -lderman Klobuchar, the land be leased by the Council, on a first-come, first-served basis, Canton residents only, and the motion carried b17 a viva voce vote. Ordinance "Boundaries of the City of Canton" was read the first time. i Bonds of Matthew Bohler, Police Patrolman, and Steve Eades, Treas. of Cemetery, were on motion of Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman Smith, accepted. It was moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Linder, the residents at the Lake who own homes there now, be given the first priviledge on leasing the land on their present frontage, and the motion carried by a viva voce vote. It was moved by Alderman 5m1-th, s conded by Alderman Staley, to advertise for bids, for contract to rent Police car from a local dealer, bids to be opened on Feb. 1, and the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. i Alderman Duncan comes in. It was moved by Alderman Maley, seconded by Alderman Smith, the Mayor and City for acomprehensive city plan, in the sum of ? 10,091.00 for Hammond City Planners.. survey. Clerk, be authorized to enter into contract with Scruggs & Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Staley. NAY: Alderman Moore, Cook and Klobuchar.
