ORDINANCE NO. 1397
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF CANTON,
FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS OF STEPHEN E. SAYLOR and SHARON R. SAYLOR,
140 West Beech Street, Canton, Illinois.
WHEREAS, a petition was filed with the City Clerk for the
annexation of the real property described below, and said real
property is not within the corporate limits of any municipality,
but is contiguous to the City of Canton, Illinois,
A PART OF THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER (SE 4) OF SECTION THIRTY-FOUR
(34) IN TOWNSHIP SEVEN (7) NORTH, RANGE FOUR (4) EAST OF THE
FOURTH PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN, SITUATED IN FULTOPd COUNTY,
ILLINOIS, DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
Beginning at a point 426.9 feet North of the Southwest corner
of said Quarter Section, thence East 219 feet, to a point,
thence North 208.7 feet to a point 38 rods and 13 links North
of the South line of said Quarter Section, thence West 219
feet to the West line of said Quarter Section, thence South
208.7 feet to the place of beginning; ALSO
Beginning at a point of the West line of said Quarter Section
637.1 feet North of the Southwest corner thereof, thence
East 225.2 feet, thence South 14.8 feet to the place of
beginning.
WHEREAS, a public hearing on said petition was conducted by
the Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Canton on December
14, 1992, pursuant to proper notice having been published in the
Daily Ledger;
WHEREAS, on December 14, 1992, the Planning & Zoning
Commission recommended to the City Council that the real property
described in the exhibit attached hereto be annexed to the City of
Canton pursuant to Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised State
Statutes,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Canton,
Illinois that said real property be annexed to the City of Canton.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
1. That territory described above be and the same is hereby
annexed to the City of Canton, Illinois.
2. That the described real property be and is hereby zoned R-
2, single family residential.
3. That the zoning Administrator is directed to make the
appropriate changes to the zoning maps of the City of Canton to
show this annexation and zoning.
4. That the City Clerk is directed to record with the
Recorder of Deeds of Fulton County and to file with the County
Clerk of Fulton County a certified copy of this Ordinance together
with an accurate map of the annexed territory.
5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon
its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton and approval
by its Mayor.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 17th day of
August 1993, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Coay, Nblleck, Phillips, Sarff, P~eade, N1ay, Chapman.
NAYS : None .
