ORDINANCE 1514
AN ORDINANCE REZONING CERTAIN PROPERTY OF COVENANT COMMUNITY
FELLOWSHIP CHURCH OF VINE AND LAKELAND IN THE CITY OF CANTON FROM
AGRICULTURE TO R-2.
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Canton,
Illinois, that the territory hereinafter described is located within
the corporate limits of said City of Canton, Illinois, and is
currently zoned in an Agriculture zoning configuration; and,
WHEREAS, a Petition for Rezoning has been filed by the
Petitioner, Covenant Community Fellowship to rezone the property
hereinafter described to a R-2, Single Family, zoning configuration;
and,
WHEREAS, a public hearing was conducted by the Planning and
Zoning Commission of the City of Canton, Illinois, in accordance
with the laws of this State and the ordinances of the City of Canton,
Illinois, on the 12th day of August, 1996, and said Planning and
Zoning Commission recommended that the property hereinafter described
be rezoned from Agriculture to a R-2 zoning configuration. No
objectors appeared; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the territory described as follows:
A part of the Northwest Quarter of Section 27,
Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the Fourth
Principal Meridian, described as follows:
Beginning at the Northwest corner of said Quarter
Section, running thence East 664 feet, thence
South 274.2 feet, thence East 118 feet, thence

South to the North right-of-way line of County
Road 21, thence in a Northwesterly direction
along the North line of said highway 895 feet,
more or less, to the West line of said Quarter
Section, thence North 851 feet to the place of
beginning, situated in the City of Canton, County
of Fulton and State of Illinois;
be and the same is hereby zoned as a R-2 zoning configuration
according to the City Code of the City of Canton, Illinois.
Section 2. That the City Zoning Administrator is hereby
instructed and ordered to make the necessary amendments on the zoning
map of the City of Canton, Illinois, to reflect the changes required
by this Ordinance.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect immediately upon its passage by a majority vote of the aldermen
holding office in the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at
a regular meeting this 3rd day of September , 1996, upon a
roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen May, Shores, Meade, Nidiffer, Phillips, Sarff,
Molleck.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Alderman Hartford.
