PARKING ANA THE PURCHASE OF ADDl- TI4NAL P�.RKING METERS. BE T.T QRDAINED BY THE CZTY CQUNCTL QF THE CITY OF CANTQN, ILL- INQIS: Section l. That the City Council of �he City of Canton has determined that the �raffic conditi.ons upon the streets of said City are such a� to necessitate and require for the public � benefit, safety, and welfare of said City that additional park- ing facilities be acquired, maintained and operated by said City in order that mo�or vehi.culax traffic congestion upon the streets of said Ci.ty may be alleviated and properly controlled and �hat the City purchase and acquire additional parkin� meters, and slso purchase and acquire or lease, to provide parking fae� il3tiee for off-street parking, the following described real es- tate: 108 feet off of the �ast end of following described property: Lot 105 in the Town of Canton, also known as Swan�s First Addition, also known as the original town of Canton, except 1 rod in width, aeross the East end of said lot appropriated �,s a public alley and except a plot of ground 67 feet East ar_d West by 69 �eet NortY� and South out of the Northeast corner of said descr3.bed ground, situated in the County of Pulton and State of Illinois. Said traet to be improved by the removal of any obstructions, including buildings or building thereon, drain and surface �u� Tract, install 1igY�t3.ng systems, parkin� posts and meter� and do all work necessary to make sueh Tract available for additional off- atreet park3.n� for motor veh3.cles for th,e purpose of relieving " traffic �on�estions upon the streets of said City. Section 2. Th,at the rental for said property ahall be for a period of three years, with the option of renewal of the lease for a further period of two years, at a rental of One Hundred (�100.40} Dollars per month. Section 3. That the Mayor enter into an agreement th�t in tl�e event the owner of said property desires to sell said property at any time during sa3.d rental period or extension thereof the City of Canton shall have �he first option to purch,ase said proper�y at the price se� by said ownsr and shall report said off er to the Council for purpose of accepting or re�ecting said offer. Section 4Y. That the Mayor be, and he 3.s hereby au�horized to en�er in�a a contract with the Canton Cham.ber of Commer�e whereby the said Canton Chamber of Commerce make up the deficit that might be created for rental each month on sa3.d tract of �round between the amount collected f'rom meters installed on said ground and the monthly �:�a�,� of One Hundred Dollars, and that the said Canton Ch�mber of Commerce purch,ase and install concrete parking logs to be placed in front of all meters. ; � Section 5. Sect3.on 8. A:11 ordinances or parts of ordinances in con� fl.ict herewith are hereby repealed. 3ection 9. All ordinan.ces of the City of Canton pertaining to parking, parking meters and traffic control not in conflict wit� this ordinance are and shall be eontrolling as to parking, parking meters and t�affie control on and in connection with said off-gtreet parkin� lot. Section 10. This ordinance, after th.e passage, sha11 be published in the Canton Daily Led�er, a newspaper publish�d and or general cireulation in said City of Canton, shall be in fu11 foree and effect ten days after such publication, as provided by law.
