BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CQUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTOI�,
ILI,INOIS:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful far any person, without
the prior consent or invitation by the person called, �o ca11
anyoae by telsphone for the purpose of solicitiag arsy purcha�e,
subseription,contribntioa Qr of fering or attemp�ing';�ow;e�ll ;_a�ty
a�x�^tielm, cQmmnd#:�y, ��b�cription, service or real estate, or
to seek ans contributions for any purpose.
Section 2. Phoning to inform the person called of aay of-
fer to sell any such article, subscription, commodity, or real
estate, or the offer or availability of such service, shall be
a considered a violation of this ordinance , or phoning to in-
form �he person called that contributions are needed or bein�
raised for any purpose shall be considered acts within the pur-
view of this ordinance, when done without any such prior cons�nt.

Section 3. Provided that this ordinance shall not be c�n-
sidered to prohibit givin� by phone any information as to any
person called as to any mish�p, illness, situation or event call-
ing for aid or celebration when not done in connection with the
operating of any business, nor to ans phone call in aid of any�
church, charitable or civic purpose when the person making such
call is not financially interested, directly or indirectly, in�
the result thereof. �
Section 4. Any person, firm or corporation violating any
provision of this ordinance shall be fined not less than five
dollars (�5.00) nor more than One Hun.dred Dollars (�100.00) for
each offence.
Section 5. This ordinance shall be in force and effect
after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton,
Illinois , approval by the Mayor, and published according to law.
