ORDINANCE N0. _�
BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE CITY COUNCII, OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. ESTABLISHMENT: The City of Can�on, Illinoi�,
her�by estAblishes a. tract of lznd to be used solely for the pur-
poses of disposing of the gzrbage, trash, ashes, refuse and other
disposable material collected in said City, which said Tra�ct is
described as follows:
Beginning �t a point I�00 feet South of the center of
Section Fourteen (ly.) , Township Six North, Rr�nge Four
East of the Fourth Principal Nleridian, Fulton County,
Illinois; thence South for � distance of 2150 feet,
thence E�st for a distance of 2650 feet, thence
South ?5° 001 East for a distance of 1000 feet; thence
Nvrth 17° 30t West for a distance of 1000 feet, thence
North 54° OOt West for z distance of 22'�0 feet, thence
North 75° 30� West for a distance of 600 feet; thence
Vdest for a distance of 900 feet to the point of beginning,
containing 135 acres, more or less.
That from and after the effective date of this Ordinance no other
land shall be used for these purposes by the resid�nts of said
City� unless said ls�nd is priva�ely maint�ined in compliance with
the Law� of the State of Illinois.
Section 2. N�ANS OF EGRESS 6ND INGRESS. No other roadway
into �nd out of said land shall be used other than the roadway
running East of State Bond Issue Routes 7$ znd 100 at the Junction
of said routes, approximately three miles South of the corporate
limits of s�id City (Skyrocket Junction) ; and all persons using
said roadw�y into said Tract shall then use the roadway so desig-
nated by markings and signs indica.ting the rout� to be used.
Section 3 . RESTRICTIVE USE. This said Trzct of lznd
shall be maintzined solely for the use of the residents of said
City and only residents of Canton or persons collecting disposable
materizl from �he City shall be permitted to use said premises.

Section 4. TIME. The Tract above described shall be
open zs a Sanitary Land Fill between the hours of eight o�clock
in the forenoon until four o'clock in the afternoon of each day
of the week, except Sunday.
Section 5. CUSTC)DIAN AND DUTIES. There is hereby created
the office of Custodian of the Sanitary Land Fill, who shall be
appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by tYie City Council. The
Custodian, subject to the direction of the Committee on Garbs�ge
Disposal, shall hzve control of the said Tract of I�znd. He shall
direct all persons bringing articles to the s�id Tract where and
how to dispose of the same, and shall ha�ve the power and zuthority
to order ull persons failing to obey his orders to lezve and quit
sa.id premises. The said Custodizn shall post in a prominent pls�ce
such Rules znd Regulztions that the City Council may enact which
shall have the �ame force and effect as Ordinanc�s duly enacted
by said Cour�cil. The said Custodian shall �t all times promptly
cover all refu�e and garbage so that it will not aceumulate. He
shall patrol said area and roadw�y leading into the szme to ascer-
tain that no trash or other items accumulate along s�id roadws�y,
and sh�ll perform such other duties as required by the Committee
on Garbage Disposal or the City �ouncil.
Section 6, GLEANING, S�,LV�IGING. ETC. PROHIBITED. No
person shall glean, pick up, take, or salvage anything brought
into said Tract znd the Gustodian shall see that this is strictly
enforced.
Section 7. COVERING VEHICLES. All persons hauling any
material on the streets and roadw�ys of the City or on the rosdway

leading into said Tract above described shall properly cover the
cont�iners on any vehicle or said vehicle so that zny items on
said vehicle shall not fall off the same.
Section �. DTSPOS,AL �F NOISO1�iE N�ATERTAi, PROHIBITED.
No offzl, excrement, offen�ive or noisome material shall be per-
mitted to be placed on said Tract above d�scribed.
Section 9. CONFLICT. Any prior Ordinance in conflict
with �ny of the provisions of this Ordin�nce be and the same is
hereby repealed.
Section 10. PEN�I,TY. �iny person who shzll be found guilty
of a violation of any of the provisions of this Ordinznce shall
be subject to a fine of not less than ten dolls�rs nor more than
Two Hundred Dollars for each offenee.
Seetion 11. EFF'ECTIVE DATE. This Ordin�nce shall be
in force June 1, 1965, and ten d�.ys after its passage by the City
Council, approv�l by the Mayor and publication according ta lzw. �
