ORDINANCE N0. ��3
WHEREAS, Ash Street in the City of Canton, Illinois, from
its int�rsection with North Avenue A to the East Corporation line
of the s�.id Gity is a n�.rrow street so that when vehicles ar�
p�rked on both sides of s�id street there c�nnot be two-way tr�ffic;
and
1n1�iEREAS, said Street now carries a �reat amount of traPfic
�nd because in the future it will carry heavier tr�ffic due to the
public build3ng� either construeted or to be con�tructed abuttin�
said Street; and
WHEREAS, the M�yor �nd City Council f or the reasons �bove
set forth deem it necessary because of the present and future tr�.f-
fic conditions, to prohibit parkin� on one side of the �.bove street,
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE C1TY COUNCIL �F' THE CTTY
OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
Section l. DEFINITIOI�S: Whenever in this Ordin�nce the
following terms or words are used, they shall have ascribed to them
the following meanin�s:
GOODS: All personal property permitted by lraw to be trang-
ported on the public streets and highw�.ys.
PARK or PARKING: To stand �. vehicle for a period of time
greater than is reasonably necessary for tY�e actual lo�ding
or unloading of p�ssengers or goods.
PASSENGER: Any person other than the driver of a vehicle.
SIDE OR SIDE OF STREET: That portian of said street or high-
way lying immediately ad��cent to and abutting the curb
line of said street or highway.
VEHICLE: Every devise upon which peraons or goods is, or
may be transported or drawn upon a street or highw�.y.
Section 2. P,ARKING PROHIBITED. No person shall park a
vehicle on th� North s d� of est sh Street in the City of C�nton,
from North Avenus A to North Main Street, or on the South side of
East Ash Street in said City, from North Main Street to th� corp-
oration line (except that portion of �:ast Ash Street from North.
Fourth Avenue to Dean �ourt, where no person shall park a vehicle
on either side of s�.id Street) for a lon�er interv�l than the actua�l
loading or unloading of passengers or goods .
Section 3. POSTING OF' SIGNS. The Superintendent of Streets
shall, immediately after the effective date of this Ordin�nce, pagt
signs along said Street �pprisin� the public of the provisions of
this Ordin�nce.

Section 4. PENALTY. Any person who sh�ll be found guilty
of �ny of the provisions of th3s Ordinance shall be sub�ect to a
fine of not less than Five Dollars (�5.00) nor more than Two Hun-
dred Dollars (�200.00) .
Section 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in
force and effect t�n days after i�s passage by the City council,
approval by the Mayor and publication according to law, and after
the poating of signs as provided for by Section 3 of this ardinance.
