ORDINANCE NO. o�`3S�
AN QRDINANCE AA�NDING CERTAZN RULES AND R�GULATIONS GQVERNTNG LAKE CANTON�
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF C1INTON, ILLTidOIS:
SECTI4N 1'. That the following rules and regulations sha11 be in force
in the operation of water cra�t on I�ake Canton:
(a) All sail boata over twelve (12) feet in length shall be registered
in compliance with the Statutes of the State of Illinois.
(b) That all water craft sha11 ca.rry approved Coast Guard life saving
dev3.ees for each person on said craft, and an approved life saving
deviee shall be on boa.rd of each water craft for each water skier
being towed by said water craft.
(c) That a11 motorboats which use �a.el having a flashpoint of 110 degrees
Fahrenheit or less shall have at least two ventilator ducts, fitted
w3th cowls or their equivalent for the efficient removal of explosive
or inflammable gases from the bilges of every engine and fuel tta,nk
compartment. There shall be at least one exhaust duct installed so
as to extend from the open atinosphere to the lower portion of the
bilge and at least one inta.ke duct installed, so as to eattend to a
point at least midway to the bilge or at least below the level t��=..�he
caxburetor air intake. The cowl shall be locat�d and trizamed for
maximum effectiveness and in sueh a manner as to prevent displaced
fl�mes from being recirculated.
(d} P10 person under 12..years of age snall operate any vessel propelled
��� a motor of 10 horse power, unle�ss such person is under the
direct supervision of a person 16 years or older who is qua.lified and
capable of operating the vessel.
SECTION . A1.1 prior Ordinances in conflict with any provisions of
this ardinance be and the sam,e are hereby repealed.
ECTION . Any peraon convicted of a violation of any of the provisions
of this ()rdinance ahall be subject to a fine of not less than �15.00 nor more
than Five Hundred Dollars (�500.00) far each offense.
SECTION . This Ordinance sha11 be in effect ten days after its
passage by the City Council, approval by the N:ayor and publication according
to law.
