AN ORDINANCE PROV IDING FOR CERTAIN FROCEEDIN�S INVOLVIN� DISPOSITION
OF REALTY SOUGHT TO BE ANNEXED TO OR SOUGHT TO BE MODIFIED WITHIlV
THE CITY.
WHEREAS, experience has taught that proper planning enhances
this City as a place in which to live and work; and,
WHEREAS , the City Council of this City, in this respect,
values the judgment and recommendations of the Planning Commission�
NOW, THERE�'ORE, it is hereby ordained by the City Council
of the City of Canton, Illinoi s.
Section 1. That, in addition to procedures otherwise
required by law, all territory hereinafter sought to be annexed
to the City of Canton, Illinois and any Petition therefor shall
� be referred to the Planning Commission�.pf t�ia City for such
comment and recommendations to the City Council as thereafter may
be and prior to the time when final act ion on such matter or
Pet�ion shall be considered by said City Council.
Section 2. That in addition to procedures otherwise required
by law, any Petition or action which may hereafter be contemplated
with respect to the closing of any alley within this City, whether
�� in whole or in part, shall be referred to the Planning Commiss�.on�
of this City for such comment and recommendations to the City
Council as thereafter may be and prior to the time when final
action on such closing shall be considered by the City Council of
this City.
Section 3. That, notwithstanding the foregoing provision� ,
�.� the validity of any annexation or alley closing shall not be impaired,
in any instance, if such there be, where the foregoing procedures
have not been followed, hereby meaning and expressly declaring
the foregoing provisions to be procedural and not substantive.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in effect upon its
passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
