RESOLUTION NO. 3466
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE ILLINOIS FIRST PLAN
WHEREAS, the County of Fulton has not had a new road built within its
territorial limits in the last seventy (70) years; and,
WHEREAS, the 336 Coalition is seeking funding from the State of Illinois to
begin Phase I of Route 336 from Macomb to Peoria; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed Route 336 would be a four lane road that would travel
through Fulton County; and,
WHEREAS, such proposed four lane road would assist economic development
for Fulton County, a county with one of the highest unemployment rates in the State of
Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, a four lane road that would traverse through Fulton County; and,
WHEREAS, a four lane road would provide for safer travel not only for the
people of Fulton County but for everyone; and,
WHEREAS, State Representatives and State Senators who represent Fulton
County and the surrounding area will have an opportunity to vote for Illinois First, a plan
that would provide for new funding for Route 336 that would cross through Fulton
County, Illinois.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF CANTON,
Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council is on record in support of the Illinois First Plan,
the City of Canton encourages area legislators to consider alternative funding sources for
Illinois First.
2. That the City Clerk shall notify State Representatives and State Senators who
represent the County of Fulton of the City's support and concerns involving Illinois First,
by notifying such legislators of this action taken by the City of Canton.
3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by
the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at a
regular meeting this 18thday of May, 1999.
