HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #3054 - amending chapter 8 (intoxicating liquors) ORDINANCE NO. 3054 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8 (INTOXICATING LIQUORS) OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE WHEREAS, the Public Safety & Traffic Committee has determined that it is necessary and in the best interests of the citizens of Canton, Illinois to amend Chapter 8 (Intoxicating Liquors) of the Canton Municipal Code by limiting the ages of those who can serve alcohol; and WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: That Title 3 (Business Regulations) Chapter 8 (Intoxicating Liquors) of the Canton Municipal Code shall read as follows: Age of Employees: Bartenders in licensed establishments shall be twenty-one (21) years of age. Persons serving drinks (i.e. servers, waiters, waitresses) in licensed establishments shall be eighteen(18) years of age. An employee who is eighteen (18) years or older, may sell packaged liquor, beer or wine in the course of his or her employment, provided, however, that no such employee under twenty-one (21) years of age may conduct such activity unless an employee who is twenty-one (21) years of age or older is in the licensed retail premises and is supervising the employment activities of any such employee who is under the age of twenty-one (21).
