HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #3020 - amending title 5 section 5-1-2 (department established) ORDINANCE NO. 3020 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 5 SECTION 5-1-1 (DEPARTMENT ESTABLISHED) OF THE CANTON M UNI CIPAL CODE WHEREAS, Title 5(Fire RegulationsJ Section 5-1-1(Department EstablishedJ currently states: 5-1-1: Deparfment Established There is hereby established an executive deparfment of the municipal government of the City which shall be known as the Fire Deparfment, and shall consist of one Chief of the Fire Deparfment, three (3J Assistant Chiefs, three (3J Lieutenants, and ten (10J Firefighters. (Ord. 1653, 4-18-2000; amd. Ord. 1850, 12-20-2005J WHEREAS, the City would like to amend this section of the Code by deleting "one Chief of the Fire Deparfment" and adding "the Director of Public Safety who shall act as the fire chief", changing "shall" to "may" and providing for a maximum level to which the level the Fire Deparfment may employ employees of this division, and; WHEREAS, the City Council has determined this to be in the best interests of the City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Covncil of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That the foregoing recitals of fact are found to be true. 2. That Title 5-Fire Regulations under Section 5-1-1: Deparfment Established, shall be amended as follows" "5-1-1: Department Established There is hereby established an executive deparfment of the municipal government of the City which shall be known as the Fire Deparfment, and may consist of up to the Director of Public Safety who shall act as the Fire Chief, three (3J Assistant Chiefs, three (3J Lievtenants and ten (10J Firefighters." 3.
