HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #3557RESOLUTION NO. 357 A RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO TEMPORARY SIGNS-2001 MUNICIPAL ELECTION WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has adopted an ordinance authorizing the council to extend the period of time for removal of temporary signs which includes political signs due to special extenuating circumstances; and, WHEREAS, in this election year of 2001, the primary election is on February 27 and the general election is on April 3, some 35 days later; and, WHEREAS, strict observance of the ordinances would require removal of political signs for a five day period after the primary election; and, WHEREAS, the Canton City Council finds that special extenuating circumstances exist which allow it to extend the period of time for removal of temporary signs after the primary election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the period for removal of temporary signs be extended from 48 hours to 7 days following the February 27 primary, thus permitting successful candidates to allow their signs to remain until the general election on Apri13. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 20th day of February , 2001, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen May, Shores, Meade, Nidiffer, Phillips, Sarff, Hartford, Molleck.
