A special meeting of the Canton City Council was held on July 13, 2026 (12:30pm) at Canton City
Hall-Mayor’s Office located at 2 N. Main, Canton, IL 61520.

REQUESTED ACTION:
MAYOR KENT MCDOWELL (CHAIR)
APPROVAL OF A CLASS E. PACKAGE LIQUOR LICENSE FOR NAVDEEP ENTERPRISES LLC D.B.A.
EAST SIDE LIQUOR.
Mayor McDowell informed the Council that the existing owner of East Side Liquor was selling
the establishment, and that the prospective new owner had submitted an application for the
Class E Package Liquor License. Mayor McDowell noted that the Canton Police Department had
conducted a background check on the applicant, and that the matter had been reviewed by the
Liquor Commission. The applicant was found to have no criminal history, and the background
check was passed without issue. The applicant has submitted all required documentation,
including a dram shop certificate of liability insurance. It was noted that the license being
requested is of the same class and type as that held by the previous owner, and that the nature
of the business operation would remain unchanged.
Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Chamberlin/Lovell for approval of a Class E.
Package Liquor License for Navdeep Enterprises LLC D.B.A East Side Liquor.
