ORDINANCE NO. 4564
AN ORDINANCE REZONING PROPERTY AT 260 WEST LOCUST FROM A B-2
ZONING CLASSIFICATION TO A R-3 ZONING CLASSIFICATION
WHEREAS, AMBER TERRY filed a petition with the Joint Planning & Zoning
Commission for the re-zoning of the real property described below, said property
being within the corporate limits of the City of Canton, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, AMBER TERRY purchased the real property described below from,
CHAD COLEMAN on or about APRIL of 2026; and
WHEREAS, the current zoning classification of the property is B-2 and it is the
petitioner's intent for the property to change to a R-3 zoning classification; and
WHEREAS, after proper notice, a public hearing on said Petition was conducted
by the Joint Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Canton on June 8,
2026
WHEREAS, on June 8th, 2026, the Planning and Zoning Commission
recommended to the City Council that the real property described below be
rezoned pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11-13-1 et.seq.; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Canton, Illinois that said
property be rezoned within the City of Canton, to meet future business growth and
fit within the City's comprehensive plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Illinois as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds as facts the assertions set forth
above.
2. That the described real property be and is hereby rezoned from B-2 to R-3 as
follows:
The South 25 feet of the North 125 feet of Lot 7 and the North 125 feet of the West
25.5 feet of Lot 8 in Thorp's Subdivision of Lots 12 and 13 of French's Addition to
the City of Canton, situated in the County of Fulton and State of Illinois.

3. Upon proof of filing of a certified copy of this Ordinance, the Zoning
Administrator is directed to make the appropriate map amendments to the City of
Canton to reflect said re-zoning.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton and approval by its Mayor.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approved by the
Mayor thereof this 16th day of June 2026 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Alderpersons Chamberlin, Lovell, Hale, Pickel, Ketcham, Gossett
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Alderpersons Nelson, Grimm J
