ORDINANCE NO. 4557
AN ORDINANCE REZONING PROPERTY AT 354 EAST LOCUST FROM AN R-4
ZONING CLASSIFICATION TO A B-2 ZONING CLASSIFICATION
WHEREAS, Eric Barnard, Liberty Land Investments filed a petition with the Joint
Planning & Zoning Commission for the re-zoning of the real property described
below, said property being within the corporate limits of the City of Canton,
Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Eric Barnard, Liberty Land Investments is the current owner of said
property; and
WHEREAS, the current zoning classification of the property is R-4 and it is the
petitioner's intent for the property to change to a B-2 zoning classification; and
WHEREAS, after proper notice, a public hearing on said Petition was conducted
by the Joint Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Canton on May 11,
2026
WHEREAS, on May 11, 2026, the Planning and Zoning Commission
recommended to the City Council that the real property described below be
rezoned pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11-13-1 et.seq.; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Canton, Illinois that said
property be rezoned within the City of Canton, to meet future business growth and
fit within the City's comprehensive plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Illinois as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds as facts the assertions set forth above.
2. That the described real property be and is hereby rezoned from R-4 to B-2 as
follows:
TWP: 04 SECTION/LOT: 07 GOULD SOUTH ADDITION WEST 25 6 E 19
PIN: 09-08-27-430-009
3. Upon proof of filing of a certified copy of this Ordinance, the Zoning
Administrator is directed to make the appropriate map amendments to the City of
Canton to reflect said re-zoning.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton and approval by its Mayor.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approved by the
Mayor thereof this 19th day of May 2026 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Alderpersons Chamberlin, Grimm, Lovell, Hale, Pickel, Gossett
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Alderpersons Nelson, Ketcham
