The mayor announced Police Chief Mike Eveland is going to officially retire on February 2 and
presented him with a plaque to commend him for 29 years at the Canton Police Department.
RESOLUTION APPROVING TIME CAPSULE STORAGE.
It was brought to Mayor McDowell’s attention that as a formality to create a resolution stating
the time capsule stored at Parlin Ingersoll Library should be moved to the City building in the
event anything ever happened to the library as safe keeping.
Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Gossett/Pickel for a resolution approving time
capsule storage.

APPROVAL OF A SPECIAL EVENT AND ROAD CLOSURE FOR THE RED DOG 5K TO BE HELD
SATURDAY, MAY 2.
This is a repeat event.

and road closure for the Red Dog 5K to be held Saturday, May 2.

COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
ALDERPERSON JOHN LOVELL, CHAIR
Alderman John Lovell wanted to make the council aware that he was invited to be a part of a
new committee called The Canton Historical Hearts Alliance chaired by Carla Bobell and Rick
Klinedinst. They are taking the leftover money from the bicentennial committee and moving it
into this new committee. There are three different sub committees – The history of Canton,
Arts & entertainment, and the beautification. Lovell joined the arts & entertainment
subcommittee, and their main priority is to get events going at the Opera House Plaza.

RESOLUTION APPROVING GATEWAY MASTER SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH XPRESS BILL PAY.
This is being tabled for the time being.
IT AND CYBERSECURITY

RESOLUTION APPROVING A CYBER INSURANCE POLICY RENEWAL FOR THE CITY OF CANTON,
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 17, 2026, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND/OR CITY CLERK TO
EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY AND RELATED AGREEMENTS AND DOCUMENTS IN RELATION TO SAID
INSURANCE POLICY.
There was no discussion.

insurance policy renewal for the City of Canton. Effective January 17, 2026, and authorizing the
mayor and/or city clerk to execute all necessary and related agreements and documents in
relation to said insurance policy.

RESOLUTION APPROVING INTERNET SERVICES WITH MID CENTURY FOR GREENWOOD
CEMETERY.
The cemetery needs internet to be able to access city accounting software for purchase orders
and cash receipts as well as being able to upload burial information to the state. Their emails and
phone is also used through the internet.
Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Pickel/Hale for a resolution approving internet
services with Mid Century for Greenwood Cemetery.

ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO MAKE A LEASE NOT EXCEEDING TWO (2) YEARS
WITH FULTON COUNTY COURT SERVICES.
This is routine and is done on an annual basis. This is for the probation office located on the first
floor of the city hall building.

authorizing the mayor to make a lease not exceeding two (2) years with Fulton County Court
Services.
