ORDINANCE Nd. 1707
AN QRD/NANCE VACATING TWO ALLEYS
WHEREAS, it appears the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, that
65 ILCS/5/11-91-1 provides impertinent part that whenever the Corporate
authorities of any municipality in the State of Illinois determine That the public
interest will be subserved by vacating any street or alley, or part thereof, within
their jurisdiction and any incorporated area, that said municipality may vacate
that street or alley, or part thereof, by ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Corporate authorities of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois, have determined that the public interest will be subserved by
vacating an alley fwenty (20) feet in width lying West of Lots 1 through 9 in E.
Johnson's Addition to the City of Canton running North and South 438.8 feet
between the North line of the N.S. Wright's Addition to the City of Canton and the
South line of West Maple Street and an alley twelve (12) feet in width lying
directly South of the South line of Lot 9 in E. Johnson's Addition to the City of
Canton and running East and West beginning at the Northeast comer of Lot 1 in
N.S. Wright's Addition running thence West one hundred eighty one (181) feet
along the North lines of Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 of N.S. Wright's Addition to the City of
Canton, situated in the County of Fulton, State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the alley described herein end the properties contiguous
thereto are wholly within the jurisdiction and corporate limits of the City of
Canton, Illinois, and;

WHEREAS, the Corporate authorities of the City of Canton, Illinois, have
determined that the relief to the public from further burden and responsibility of
maintaining the alley described herein constitutes a public use or public interest
authorizing the vacation; and
WHEREAS, the Corporate authorities are advised that it is the intention of
Graham Hospital Association to make a hard road exit from the South side of
their current parking lot using part of the alley lying South of Lot 9 in E. Johnson's
Addition to the City of Canton;
NOW THEREFORE, AND BE IT ORDAINED BY THE C/TY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLfNOIS:
1. That the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
hereby hnds the foregoing recitals to be fact.
2. That the following alleys shall be vacated by the City:
a. An alley 20 feet in width lying West of Lots 1 through 9 in E.
Johnson's Addition to the City of Canton, running North and
South 438.8 feet between the North line of N.S. Wright's
Addition to City of Canton and the South line of West Maple
Street.
b. An alley 12 feet in width lying directly South of the South line
of Lot 9 in E. Johnson's Addition to the City of Canton and
running East/West beginning at the Northeast corner of Lot 1
in N.S. Wright's Addition running thence West 181 feet along
the North lines of Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 of N.S. Wright's Addition
to the City of Canton. Situated in the County of Fulton, State
of Illinois.
3. That the City Clerk of the City of Canton, Illinois, is hereby directed
to cause a certified copy of this Ordinance to be filed with the office of the Fulton

County Recorrier of Deeds immediately upon the passage and approval of this
Ordinance.
4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon his
passage by Three-fourths (3/4) majority vofe of the alderman holding office in the
City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at a regular meeting thereof on the 2nd
day of September ~ 2001, upon role call vote is follows:
AYES: Aldermen. Molleck, Hartford, Sarff, West, Nidiffer, Mea.d~,
Shores, Fillingham.
NAYS: None .
ABSENT.' None .
