ORDINANCE NO. 1703
AN ORDINANCE REZONING CERTAIN PROPERTY OWNED BY
ILLINOIS CONGREGATION OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES, AN
ILLINOIS NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION AND BEING
PURCHASED BY FULTON-MASON CRISIS SERVICE FROM AN
R-2 ZONING CONFIGURATION TO A R-4 ZONING
CONFIGURATION AND AN ORDINANCE TO ALLOW A SPECIAL
USE PERMIT.
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Counci! of the City of Canton, Illinois, that the
territory hereinafter described is located within fhe corporate limits of said City of
Canton; and
IT FURTHER APPEARING to said City Counci! that the territory
hereinafter described is owned by ILLINOIS CONGREGATION OF JEHOVAH'S
WITNESSES, an Illinois not-for-profit Corporation and is being purchased by
FULTON--MASON CRISIS SERVICE, your Petitioner, and that your Petitioners
are requesting that the property hereinafter described be rezoned from an R-Z
zoning configuration to a R-4 zoning configuration; and
IT FURTHER APPEARING to said City Council, that a Petition fvr Special
Use Permit Was filed by your I~etitioners requesting permission to use the
property as a Crisis Service Center for males and females and children affected
thereby under 10-7-3(D) of the R-4 Multi-Family Residential District and also for
further expansion of the facility by adding an additional room and garage; and
IT FURTHER APPEARING to said City Council that a public hearing was
conducted by the Planning & Zoning Commission of the City of Canton, Illinois, in
accordance with fhe laws of this State and the ordinances of the City of Canton,
Fulton County, Illinois, on August 13, 2001, and said Planning & Zoning

Commission recommended that the property hereinafter described be rezoned
from an R-2 zoning configuration to an R-4 zoning configuration and that a
Special Use Permit be given for the uses ident~ed in Petitioner's Petition.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Illinois, as follows:
Section 1, That the territory described as follows:
Part of the Southeast quarter of Section 76, Township 7 North,
Range 4 East, of the Fourth Principal Meridian, described as
follows:
Beginning at a stone at the Northeast comer of said Southeast
Quarter of Section 26, running thence West 1411.5 feet, more or
less, to the Northwest comer of the property now owned by Craig
Sheets for the actual point of beginning; thence running South 150
feet hi the Southwest comer of said property now owned by Craig
sheets, thence East 110 feet to the Southeast comer of the lot now
owned by Canton, Illinois Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses;
thence south 90 feet, more or less, to the Northeast comer of the
property now owned by the Presiding Bishop of the church of Latter
Day Saints, a Utah Corporation Sole, thence west 269 feet, thence
North 240 feet along the East line of the Andrew V. & Laurefta
Gebhardt property to the South line of East Ash Street, thence East
159 feet, more or less, along the South line of East Ash Street to
the point of beginning
being owned by Illinois Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, an Illinois .not-for-
profit Corporation and further, being purchased by Fulton-Mason Crisis Service,
be and the same is hereby rezoned from an R-2 zoning configuration to an R-4
zoning configuration, in accordance with the applicable rules, laws and
regulations of the Illinois Municipal Code.
Section 2. That the territory hereinabove described being owned by the
Illinois Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, an Illinois not-for-profit
Corporation, and being purchased by Fulton-Mason Crisis Service, be and the
same is hereby granted a Special Use Permit fo operate a Family Crisis Center
at the location, expand the building by an additional room and building a garage,
in accordance with the applicable rules, laws and regulations of the Illinois
Municipal Code.
ecti n That the City Zoning Administra#or is hereby instructed and
ordered to make the necessary adjustments to fhe zoning map of the City of
Canton, Illinois, to reflect the rezoning hereunder, and to issue any Special Use
Permits in accordance with Petitioner's Petition.
Section 4. That Phis Ordinance was passed and became in full force and
effect immediately upon its passage by a majority vote of the alderman holding
office in the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Canton, Illinois this 21st day of August, 2009, upon a roll
call vofe as follows:
