HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #3968 - supporting canton union school district in their quest to stop the sale of synthetic marijuana within city limits RESOLUTION NO. 3968 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CANTON UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT #66 IN THEIR QUEST TO STOP THE SALE OF SYNTHETIC MARIJUANA WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF CANTON, ILLINOIS. WHEREAS, Canton Union School District #66 has had several incidents of students admitting to being under the influence of synthetic marijuana during the school day, and WHEREAS, these incidents have had a negative impact on the learning environment of Canton High School and Ingersoll Middle School and have resulted in expulsions and disciplinary actions against several students, and WHEREAS, the Canton School Board has heard testimony on the harmful effects on adolescence from substances such as and including synthetic marijuana, and these substances are sold at several locations in the city of Canton, and WHEREAS, the C.U.S.D. #66 is resolved that they will request stores and commercial businesses to voluntarily stop selling products that are considered synthetic marijuana, and will also request that other organizations and associations will join them in their effort to slow or stop the sale of these products. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Canton fully supports C.U.S.D. #66 in their quest to stop the sale of synthetic marijuana within the city of Canton in a united effort to keep our young people safe and healthy.
