A RESOLUTION OF CANTON,ILLINOIS ADOPTING THE 2025 FULTON COUNTY
MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL MULTI-HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN
WHEREAS, the City of Canton, Illinois ("City") is an Illinois non-home rule
municipality;
WHEREAS,the City recognizes the threat that natural and man-made hazards, including
severe thunderstorms, severe winter storms, floods, and tornadoes among others, pose to people
and property within the City; and
WHEREAS, the City has prepared a multi-hazard mitigation plan, hereby known as the
2025 Fulton County Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan,in accordance with federal
laws,including the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act,as amended;
the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968,and the National Dam Safety Program Act,as amended;
and
WHEREAS, the 2025 Fulton County Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan
identifies mitigation goals and actions to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property
in City from the impacts of future hazards and disasters; and
WHEREAS, adoption by the City demonstrates its commitment to hazard mitigation and
achieving the goals outlines in the 2025 Fulton County Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard
Mitigation Plan.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON,ILLINOIS,AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City of Canton hereby finds as fact the recitals set forth above and are incorporated
herein as though fully set forth.
2. The City of Canton hereby ADOPTS the 2025 Fulton County Multi-Jurisdictional
Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan and agrees to participate in the annual maintenance and
evaluation of the Plan.
3. That the Mayor,or his designee,is hereby authorized to execute any and all agreements
and other documentation related to the adoption and/or implementation of the 2025
Fulton County Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan;
5.That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the
City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois at a regular meeting this 2nd
day of September, 2025, upon a roll call vote as follows:
