He went ahead and got prices on new motors. ~3z CONTINUED MAY 7TH, 1985 Bill's Outboard is cheapest with a trade-in for $1095. Buell's is an Evinrude at $1135. ($50, below his cost). Ray recommends Bill's Outboard because labor is cheaper and he has given us good service before. Motion by Alderman Workman, second by Alderman May that council accept Ray McKinney's recommendation for this motor from Bill's Outboard at $1095. Discussion. Alderman Sarff questioned the trade-in value and how much was spent on repairs so far. Ray did not have the repair figures on hand. Pat Wright said there is about $12,000, in the Lake Fund. Motion Carried. 7 AYES 0 NAYS 1 ABSENT OLD BUSINESS: ORDINANCE - AUTHORIZING THE LEASE OF REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS WHICN PROPERTY IS GENERALLY LOCATED IN SECTION 1LJENTY-FOUR (24) OF CANTON TOWNSHIP, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS (MOTORCYCLE CLUB). Second reading, read by title. Jim Malmgren said there has been an amended third page to the Ordinance. There is a new paragraph 11 and 12, which were not in the former lease. The balance of the lease is as it has been the past five years. Paragraph 11 and 12 are added pursuant to Committee instructions. The fee is $500. for five years, payable at $100.00 per year in advance. Alderman Sarff asked is we could cancel if we decided to lease the land to another person for another purpose? Jim said it would be appropriate for any party to cancel for any reason with 12 months written notice. The City may unilaterally cancel if Council has an emergency situation. Nbtion by Alderman Workman, second by Alderman Horr to place the Ordinance as amended on its passage. Roll Call: AYES - Aldermen Kovachevich, Hammond, Sarff, Workman, Carl, May, Horr. NAYS - none. Motion Carried. 7 AYES 0 NAYS 1 ABSENT Ordinance being #1060. ORDINANCE - GRANTING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR THE OPERATION OF A SHOP SPECIALIZING IN HAND-CRAFTED AND HAND-FINISHED ARTICLES AT THE ADDRESS OF 157 WEST UINE STREET (ARVELYN MILLER). Second reading, read by title. Motion by Alderman Horr, second by Alderman Carl to place the Ordinance on its passage. Roll Call: AYES - Aldermen Kovachevich, Hammond, Sarff, Workman, Carl, May, Horr. NAYS - none. Motion Carried. 7 AYES 0 NAYS 1 ABSENT Ordinance being #1061. COMMUNICATIONS FROM MAYOR EDWARDS. The Mayor had a letter regarding the Medical/ Dental Plan that he needs the authority to sign. It talks about the "Lifetime Maximum per Individual for Benefits on this page is $1,000,000," Motion by Alderman Hammond, second by Alderman Kovachevich that the Mayor sign this letter. Roll Call. AYES - Aldermen Horr, May, Carl, Workman, Sarff, Nammond, Kovachevich. NAYS - none. Motion Carried. 7 AYES 0 NAYS 1 ABSENT Dave's guests arrived at council. They were introduced to Council; Frank Rupp and Mary Ellyn from Health and Human Services. Mayor Edwards welcomed them to Canton . Mayor Edwards introduced Doyle Stokes of the Recruiting Office. He addressed Council. He is leaving the area and wanted to take this opportunity to say Thank You and give his appreciation to everyone. He has enjoyed his stay in Canton. His wife, Sandy Stokes, is the Police Department Secretary, and will be leaving with him. Sandy thanked the City of Canton and has enjoyed working for the City. The Mayor introduced several people in the audience who have been a part of the last four years. Introduced were: Rhonda Vogel, his secretary; Mr. & Mrs. Bill Malmgren; Andy Almasi from the Chamber of Commerce. The Mayor presented his Annual Report. A copy was given to each Council member. He stated he was proud of city employees, superintendents, department heads and the attorney, and gave his thanks to all aldermen.
