PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: MAYORAL COMMUNICATIONS/REQUESTED ACTION: Jenny from DaCott presented. She started off on a positive note stating the municipality contract has been below market and in the past 5 months the city has saved close to $21,000. The aggregation program expires in July, and the city is on a 12 month contract at 0.8534 with constellation. The hopes were to start seeing savings after the 12 month period. However, the opposite happened. Energy markets are up and volatile. There were capacity auction results released and last year they were at $30 per megawatt, and this summer they are coming in at $666 per megawatt hours. This is over 22x higher than it was. Suppliers are trying to lock that into the fixed rate, which is a huge portion of why prices are currently climbing. Jenny suggested staying with constellation as their 12 month program right now is 0.12319 which would be about a $25 increase per month on residential bills. Everything the suppliers have th projected for the price to compare is 0.12547. That official price comes out around May 15. There is an option to wait until the next meeting to lock this in, but there is no anticipation of any savings between now and the next two weeks. If anything, Jenny projects these prices will continue to climb. Ameren is currently at 0.08277 and is projected to jump to 0.12547. Jenny stated if the city waits until the second meeting of the month then constellation will most likely come in lower, and she recommends staying with constellation. CITY CLERK COMMUNICATIONS /REQUESTED ACTION: DEPARTMENT HEAD COMMUNICATIONS/REPORTS: Police Chief Mike Eveland congratulated Joey Boggs, Michael Walker, and Greg Spahn for their retirement and presented each of them a plaque for serving the City of Canton for over 20 years.
