A special meeting of the Canton City Council was held on
September 13, 1988 in Council Chambers.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE OPENED THE MEETING, FOLLOWED BY THE
INVOCATION GIVEN BY MAYOR DONALD E. EDWARDS.
Mayor Edwards asked for roll call at 6:30 p.m. Present
- Aldermen Kovachevich, Zilly, Steck, Sarff, Meade, Bohler,
May, Chapman. Absent - None.
PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: Read as follows: To consider
going into executive session to consider matters of imminent,
threatened/pending litigation involving the CIC Bankruptcy.
Motion by Alderman Steck, second by Alderman Kovachevich,
to go into executive session. Voice vote, motion carried.
Alderman Sarff was excused from the meeting.
The regular portion of the meeting recessed at 6:33 p.m.
to go into executive session.
During the executive session a motion was made by Alderman
Chapman, second by Alderman Steck, to place a resolution
on the agenda that conditionally approves the concept of
a private sale and transfer of all CIC stock allegedly
owned by Elizabeth A. Foley. Roll call. AYES - Aldermen
Chapman, May, Bohler, Meade, Steck, Zilly, Kovachevich.
NAYS - None. 8 AYES 0 NAYS 1 ABSENT. Motion carried.
Council reconvened in open session at 7:05 p.m.
RESOLUTION - A RESOLUTION CONDITIONALLY APPROVING THE CONCEPT
OF A PRIVATE SALE AND TRANSFER OF ALL CIC STOCR ALLEGEDLY
OWNED BY ELIZABETH A. FOLEY. First reading, read by title.
Motion by Alderman Bohler, second by Alderman Meade, that
Alderman Sarff be excused from voting as he is employed
by CIC. Voice vote, motion carried.
Motion by Alderman Bohler, second by Alderman May, the
resolution be adopted. Roll call. AYES - Aldermen
Kovachevich, Steck, Meade, Bohler, May, Chapman. NAYS
- Alderman Zilly. 7 AYES 1 NAYS 1 EXCUSED 0 ABSENT. Motion
carried. Resolution being #2042.
The executive minutes are on file in the office of the
city clerk.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Alderman Kovachevich, second by
Alderman Zilly, to adjourn. Voice vote, motion carried.
Council adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
