An Ordinance annexing and rezoning certain property of Eddie Lee
Saunders in an I-1 zoning configuration.
WHEREAS, the property, hereinafter described in Paragraph 1 hereof
("Saunders Property"), is not located within the corporate limits of any municipality; and
WHEREAS, the Saunders Property is contiguous to the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois, along its North boundary line bordering property owned by the
Petitioner, Eddie Lee Saunders, which property, in turn, is within the corporate limits of
the City of Canton, Fulton County, State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, there are no improvements currently located upon the Saunders
Property; and
WHEREAS, Petitioner desires that the property be annexed in an I-1 zoning
configuration in order to accommodate a construction and excavating office with
buildings envisioned to be constructed thereon to house construction and excavating
equipment and outside storage of construction materials to be in existence from time to
time hereafter; and
WHEREAS, the surrounding neighborhood consists of a mixture of commercial
and heavy commercial uses, including one industrial use, which uses far outweigh in
scope and character, the residential uses prevalent in this neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the City of Canton, Illinois, are informed
and believe that the Saunders Property is located within the Copperas .Creek Fire
Protection District and that the Petitioner has given notice to the Copperas Creek Fire

Protection District in accordance with Section 7-1-1 of the Illinois Municipal Code (65
ILCS 5/7-1-1 ); and
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the City of Canton, Illinois, believe that
the Saunders Property is not located within the boundaries of any library district, but
that the Petitioner has nevertheless served the Parlin Ingersoll Library with notice of this
annexation, pursuant to Section 7-1-1 of the Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5/7-1-1 );
and
WHEREAS, on October 13, 2003, the Planning & Zoning Commission of the City
of Canton met, pursuant to notice as required by law, and held a public hearing
concerning the Petitioner's request to annex the Saunders P roperty in an I-1 zoning
configuration and at said meeting, there were no objectors present and the Planning &
Zoning Commission has unanimously recommended the annexation and rezoning of
the Saunders Property in an I-1 zoning configuration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION:
1. That the property known and described as the Saunders Property shall be
and the same is hereby annexed to the City of Canton, Illinois, said property being more
particularly described as follows:
Part of the Southwest Quarter of Section 25, Township 7 North of the
Base Line, Range 4 East of the Fourth Principal Meridian, bounded and
described as follows:
Beginning 614 feet North and 1,065 feet East of the Southwest corner of
the Southwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter of said Section 25;
thence North 312 feet; East 270 feet; South 310 feet; West 270 feet to the

Point of Beginning, situated, lying and being in the County of Fulton and
State of Illinois.
2. That the Saunders Property shall be and the same is hereby annexed to
the City of Canton, Illinois, in an I-1 zoning configuration.
3. That the corporate authorities of the City of Canton, Illinois, and their
respective officers and agents shall be and they are hereby authorized to amend the
zoning maps and corporate limits maps of the City of Canton, Illinois, to reflect the
annexation of the Saunders Property to the City of Canton, Illinois, and the corporate
limits maps of the City of Canton, Illinois, shall be and the same are hereby so
amended.
4. That a copy of this Ordinance shall be filed with the appropriate authorities
of the County of Fulton and State of Illinois, to reflect the annexation of the Saunders
Property to the City of Canton, Illinois, and from the Copperas Creek Fire Protection
District, all as made and provided for by law.
5. That the Mayor of the City of Canton, Illinois, shall be and he is hereby
authorized to affix his signature as the Mayor of said City to this Ordinance and the City
Clerk of the City of Canton, Illinois, shall be and she is hereby authorized to attest such
signature thereto.
