ORDINANCE NO. 17F,q
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING LICENSE FEES AND PERMIT FEES FOR THE CITY
OF CANTON
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that it is necessary and
in the best interest of the City of Canton to amend sections in the Municipal Code; and,
WHEREAS, that sections pursuant to license fees and permit fees for the City of Canton
have not been reviewed in several years and due to the increase of the administrative cost
associated with these activities and the process to regulate and the enforcement of such activities
a fee increase shall be implemented; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the foregoing recitals are hereby found to be fact.
2. That sections of the Canton Municipal Code are hereby amended to read as follows:
Secondhand Dealer
3-2-5.4SAME -FEES: The applicant shall pay the City Clerk prior to filing an application a
license fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) per calendaz year or part thereof. Should the
license be denied, the license fee shall not be refunded to the applicant. The
license shall be renewed annually and a fifty dollar ($50.00) annual renewal fee
shall be paid in advance for the calendar yeaz or part thereof.
Bartenders License
3-8-20.7 Bartender Permit; Fee; Duplicate Permit: The fee for the bartender permit
required by this chapter shall be twenty-five dollars ($25.00) upon original
application and five dollars ($5.00) upon application for renewal; provided,
however, that any person who, as an individual, partner, or officer of a
corporation, has been issued a license to sell alcoholic liquor at retail under this
Code or any approved manager pursuant to Section 3-8-3 of this Chapter shall be
issued an original or renewal bartender permit without additional charge. If a
bartender permit is lost or destroyed, the permit holder may apply for a duplicate
permit upon affidavit stating the circumstances of such loss or destruction, and
reaffirming the information contained in the original application. The fee for a
duplicate bartender permit shall be ten dollars ($10.00).
Taxicabs
3-10-9-4 LICENSE FEE: The fee for the taxicab license required by this chapter shall be
twenty-five dollars ($25.00) upon original application and five dollars ($5.00)
upon application for renewal.
3-10-10-4 PERMIT FEE: The annual fee charged for each permit issued under this Section
3-10-10 shall be fifty dollars ($50.00). The fees shall be paid to the City
Collector. All permits issued under this Section 3-10-10 shall expire on April 30
next succeeding the date of issuance.
Garbage Haulers
3-14-2:PERMIT REQUIRED; ANNUAL FEE: It shall be unlawful for any person to be engaged
in the business of collecting or removing waste from the City without first having
secured a permit thereof. The annual fee for such permit shall be one hundred

dollars ($100.00) plus an additional sum of one hundred dollars ($100.00) for
each vehicle over one used or to be used by any one person engaged in such
business (provided, however, in the event a licensed vehicle shall have suffered
mechanical breakdown, another vehicle, meeting the requirements hereinafter set
forth may be utilized in such business for a period not to exceed fifteen (15) days
and provided further that written permission therefore shall first be procured from
the Street Superintendent of this City). Said fee shall be payable in full on or
before January 1 annually in advance.
Fences Walls. Barriers and Other Obstructions
10-15-27 All fences of any nature, type or description located in the city shall conform to
the following regulations:
It shall be unlawful to erect, construct or alter or cause to be erected, constructed
or altered any fence, wall, barrier or other obstruction without a permit. The fee
for a permit hereunder shall be ten dollars ($10.00). All shall be erected in
compliance with this section. As applicable, the following minimum regulations
shall apply:

3. That this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor
thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting
this 16th day of September , 2003, upon a roll call vote as follows:
