APPROVAL OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC RATES RENEWAL FOR THE CITY OF CANTON FROM
DACOTT.
Jenny from Dacott explained the municipal contract expires in December that is with
constellation at 0.7298% which was below market for the entire term. For the renewal offers for
the three terms 12, 24, and 36 are all below what the City is currently at. The 12 month rate is
0.6853 which is the lowest its been recently. However, Dacott is recommending a 24 month
contract at 0.7017 which will give a little bit more security. If the City were to do the 12 month
contract compared to the current contract, the City would save about $23,000 annually. With a
24 months contract compared to the City’s current contact, the City would save about $30,000
over two years. This will be for the municipal buildings. The rates for a 36 month contract are
0.7243 which is very similar to the contract we have now. Mayor McDowell stated that he feels
comfortable with a 24 month contract.
Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Chamberlin/Lovell to approve the municipal
electric rates renewal for the City of Canton from Dacott for a 24-month contract at the 0.7017%
rates with Homefield.

and under state law you can sell it at no less than 80% of that amount. There was only one
