ORDINANCE NO. 1817
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION FOR THE CITY CLERK
OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS BEGINNING MAY, 2005.
WHEREAS, Section 2 of the Local Government Officer Compensation Act, 50
ILLS 145/2, provides that compensation of elected municipal officials be established at
least 180 days prior to the date of commencement of the term of that office; and,
WHEREAS, in the City of Canton, Illinois, anon-home rule municipality, three
municipal officers will be elected to take office on May 1, 2005, to wit: Mayor, City
Clerk and City Treasurer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the City Council hereby finds the foregoing recitals to be true and
correct.
2. That the annual compensation for the City Clerk of the City of Canton, Illinois
shall be as follows:
5/1/2005-06 5/1/2006-07 5/1/2007-08 5/1/2008-09
$27,810.00 $28,644.00 $29,504.00 $30,389.00
3. That said elected official shall also receive all additional benefits as may be
provided by law.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon adoption by a
majority vote of the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval
by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a
regular meeting this lyth day of October, 2004, upon a roll call vote as follows.
